After looking at several different manufacturers, I settled on this product. The storage case is a huge benefit to this model. Also that I could find, no other compressor had locking pins on the clamps. The pins do require a little extra motivation to release but when compressing a spring I would rather have the pins tight than loose. With a little DIY knowledge and some basic tools this compressor could save you 100s of dollars. If you own more than one vehicle with struts it could quickly save you 1000s.

You will struggle for hours if your car uses larger coils.
If the bottom coil support plate is large ( premium cars) This is useless

  • Locking pin to keep on spring

Cons

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Strut Spring Compressor Kit (2 Piece):

Compressed my springs on a 2008 Subaru Legacy, but would have been nice if the pieces that hooked onto the spring were slightly longer so the threaded rod didn't touch the strut and the head of the bolt was more accessible so I could put the impact gun on it to save some time.

        Great tool, but be careful

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Strut Spring Compressor Kit (2 Piece):

Make sure you follow the instructions. Springs will be under a lot of tension. The 2 clamp system can slide on the spring, so you must be very careful.
When using this tool, try to include as many coils as possible. The larger the "bite", the better.
Also, before installing the tool, use a marking crayon and mark the position of the strut, spring and top plate. You will need to line everything up when you put it back together.

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Strut Spring Compressor Kit (2 Piece):

I was initially concerned when the threaded rod started to flex but the tool managed to get the job done for my 2005 Titan. Just be sure to drop the whole strut as an assembly from the truck by removing the bottom bolt and the three top mounting bolts and NOT the top center shock nut before attempting to compress the spring.
