Works as designed

By

from Lanexa, VA

Pros

  • Works On A4 Volkswagen

Cons

  • Clumsy

Best Uses

  • Impact Wrench Is A Must

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Inner Tie Rod Remover Set:

Works for removing the inner tie rods on an A4 Volkswagen platform the 1 3/16 fits perfectly. As a previous review stated you are juggling multiple pieces while using the wrench. It is easier than trying to get a wrench on though.

With only 3 sizes and a design that is difficult to handle in the tight spaces involved with tie rod removal, this tool could use some serious improvements.

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Inner Tie Rod Remover Set:

The tool has essentially three components: the socket, the extension, and whatever you are using to drive it. None of these components securely connect to each other so you end up with a juggling act:
After getting the socket set up on the tie rod end you run the extension over the tie rod and onto the socket, but it is a loose fit and there are no clips. Now holding the socket securely over the tie rod and the extension over the socket you have to connect your drive to the extension. Now while holding all three items in place you have to apply torque...

If the socket fit better so you didn't have to hold it in place, and if the extension had a clip or mount onto the socket this tool would be much easier to use.

Comments about Powerbuilt Tools Inner Tie Rod Remover Set:

This tool will not fit a dodge durango 2006. The inner tie rod at the rack is to big to fit in side of the tool, making it unable to get the crows foot around the hex bolt to remove the part.
Might work well on imports . So I give this product a 1 star.
