Poly-Armour Poly-Armour PVF Steel Brake Line Tubing Coil, 1/4" x 25'

Part No. PAC-425 Warranty Details

Fit of this part varies by vehicle & equipment specs Type of Fit

Coils with the same copper-brazed, double-walled, steel or copper nickel alloy tubing as used in our pre-made lines. When combined with tube nuts and flaring tool, coils are an economical solution for shops that want to build their own lines, custom lengths or non-standard applications. Use to fabricate 3/16" Domestic, European, Japanese, British, and adapter brake lines. Poly-Armour has become the new standard in brake line replacement over the last several years. Surpassing all competitors as THE choice for both professionals and do-it-yourselfers when it comes to brake, fuel, and transmission line repair, Poly-Armour is different from anything else on the market due to its PVF or Poly-Vinyl Fluorine coat. This coating is actually a highly durable 'plastic' coating that is 'baked and cured' to the line. This provides extra protection from corrosion, debris, and road surfacing solutions. It also offers superior bend-ability without kinking. That makes Poly-Armour the easiest line to work with - period! Underneath the PVF-coating is a double-wall, low carbon steel, copper brazed tubing which meets all international and U.S. requirements for brake tubing. The difference being that Poly-Armour offers 30 times the corrosion resistance of galvanized steel alone. PVF-coated lines are now the standard in many vehicles on the road today including: Volkswagen/Audi, Honda, Toyota, and Mercedes. Considered a premium line, Poly-Armour should be used on any vehicle that will see any type of harsh environment including snow, road treatments, salt, air, dirt/gravel, etc. When extending the life of the lines is important, Poly-Armour should be used; such as on commercial vehicles or when exact OEM replacement is required or desired. - Poly-Armour is 30x More Resistant to Corrosion - DOT Approved for Hydraulic Brake Systems - Bends Easier than Standard Steel Tubing - Available in Coils of 25' and 50' - Finished Lines Available for Domestic & Import Poly-Armour lines and tubing meet the following specifications: SAEJ527b, GM123M, SAEJ1290, DIN 74234

Comments about Poly-Armour PVF Steel Brake Line Tubing Coil, 1/4" x 25':

The store I normally buy brake line from was not open, so I had to settle for this kind. I buy kits of 25' like this, and it comes will all of the fittings I'll use, yet it's less expensive than this line just by itself.

The line is way too hard, it is too stiff to flare and when it does, it'll crack. I tried three flare tools. None would work. It took a dozen attempts just to get one flare. The other line (not the NiCopp, I know that stuff is easy) had no problem.

It also cannot bend, even with a tubing bender it kinked. When sliding a fitting on it, the line is too easy to deform and the fitting will jam.

The only brake-related job this line is being used for is hanging brake calipers when working on the axle.

Comments about Poly-Armour PVF Steel Brake Line Tubing Coil, 1/4" x 25':

Bend and flare easily. There's a small joint groove, that when examining the flare, it can be mislead as crack. The poly armour is very thin. You can see some white metal exposed out right out of the store. Easily scratched. I have no faith in this poly armour. Probably a good primer and paint (oil resistant) would be better. I probably will do that since so much paint were scratched off. Price is almost 50% higher than zinc coated lines.
Advance auto parts is a great though. Good service, and is there when you need it.

Comments about Poly-Armour PVF Steel Brake Line Tubing Coil, 1/4" x 25':

Now that I have the right equipment I will never buy ready-made lines again. It is far easier to buy in bulk and custom craft brake lines, particularly when replacing every line in the vehicle. This brake line was great to work with and made the job easier. The only thing I wish is that the line was not so tightly wound as straightening out the line took a bit before I could get to crafting the new lines.

                        A:

Yes, Jesse! You can use compression fittings with the PAC-425 coils. However, compression fittings should not be used in a braking system. So, if you are working with fuel, transmission, oil, etc., they will be fine, but the pressure in a brake system is too high for compression fittings.

                        A:

I'm happy to help, Scotty-nova! This Poly-Armour PVF Steel Brake Line Coil - 1/4" x 25' could be used to replace your fuel line. You may find that 5/16" line (Part No. PAC-525) or 3/8" line (Part No. PAC-625) will work better for your fuel line application. You may also want to look at the NiCopp line as well, the part numbers begin with CNC instead of PAC. This type of line is as strong as steel with much more corrosion resistance and is easier to bend.

I'm happy to help, Mason! The size could vary based on your vehicle options on your 2001 Chevrolet Silverado. I found that commonly, GM used 1/4" brake line from the master cylinder to the rear axle split and used 5/16" fittings. After the split the brake line size would be 3/16". Any flares would require that you utilize a flare tool as they are not flared.
