Comments about Permatex PermaPoxy 5 Minute Plastic Weld (.84 oz):
This product is a great resource for the bonding of many types of plastic, but not PE, Teflon and some "oily" nylons. The bond that it produces is superior to epoxy/plastic bonds. This is a Methacrylate bonding system. It's formulated for 5 minute working time, but doesn't last 5 mins, only 3 minutes. Also, the applicator's sliding resistance is such that it makes it nearly impossible to regulate precise amounts to dispense, so waste happens (out of only 0.85 oz available). Tips - roughen both surfaces with 180 grit, clean/wipe thourghly with soap and water and rinse and dry well. Apply sparingly to BOTH surfaces and join. Utilize painters tape to clamp together. Warm or hot areas (140F ovens) will accelerate cure time.

I have a piece of a fender extension on my 89 mustang that had a bolt pull through it basically. Its made of fiberglass. My question is can I use this to basically close up the hole (about the size of a quarter) and around the area cause the fiberglass has a few cracks, then sand it smooth on both sides to the surface and drill a new hole for the bolt to go through? Will it be strong enough to hold to something being bolted to it?1 answer
