Good temporary fix

Good for a temporary fix to small leaks but not a good permanant repair. Heat and pressure will eventually cause product failure.

Comments about Permatex Muffler & Tailpipe Sealer (3 oz):

This stuff is absolutely great.. IF i repeat IF you don't rush.. IF you spend the time to sand the places you will use it on. IF you follow the application instructions. If you follow the proper preparation instructions.. If you wet the area like the instructions tell you to.. If you clean the pipes up like you should when you do a repair job. I've used this on previous patches and permatex has sealed a hole for years.. This is a great fix IF you devote the preparation time it deserves. and btw... you need to let it dry... don't just slap the stuff on.. get in your ride and fire it up... Follow permatex preparation and application instructions and you won't need to have to take it to the shop and pay some mechanic $50 an hour + parts to fix your noisy leaking exhaust

Have 2000 mustang v6. Common problem with this model is a/c condensation leaking on passenger exhaust causing a loud ticking noise. Applied this product over the crack and let dry over night. Next day the ticking noise was gone and actually feels like I have better throttle response. This product worked for me!!!

Comments about Permatex Muffler & Tailpipe Sealer (3 oz):

It works as described. I used one tube to fix an exhaust leak that failed inspection. Just wet the patch location and put this stuff on. Also, you want to wet your fingers too, which will make them less sticky to your fingers and easy to smooth out. Use a spray bottle to do so. After done, wait for 30 minutes, then run the car idle for 10-20 minutes, you are ready to go.
Mine fix passed the infection. And nothing the inspection guy could do about it.

Comments about Permatex Muffler & Tailpipe Sealer (3 oz):

I used this to seal the connection between a new muffler and tail pipe on a 1995 satrun sl. after cutting off the old muffler, i connected the new muffler to the exhaust pipe with a u-clamp. i failed to coat the outside of the pipe with the sealer before connecting muffer inlet pipe though. that was a mistake. but i was able to seal a condensation leak by LIBERALLY applying two tubes of sealer around the connection and over the u-clamp. don't worry about looks. just gob it on. inspection passsed!!!

I had a cracked downpipe on my car and it sounded like garbage. I was skeptical about trying this product but the downpipe was expensive and it was too cold out to change it. The other reviews were good so i picked up a tube. I wore gloves like another reviewer suggested and smeared it on the crack. The next day i fired it up and its been holding up for a few months now.

This paste works great at totally sealing an exhaust connection. Cures fast and stays pliable. Basically, this is a high temp silicon sealant.

Happy to assist you James! This product is sensor safe as long as it is not directly applied to the sensor. It can be used on slip joints as long as the exhaust clamp is firmly in place before hand.

I have a custom 2" exhaust with lap joints/band clamps. Would this product be suitable/recommended for this application (both on pipe-to-pipe joints as well as cat/muffler/tailpipe)? I assume it is safe for the O2 sensor?

I haven't had luck getting a tight seal with some other products, including Walker Acousti-Seal, Ultra Cooper RTV, and some generic exhaust putty.
