works good I used it to install a new water pump on my wife's 1997 Explorer. I would let it set up a little if I were doing it again, but I was pressed for time, and it worked fine but made positioning a little harder.

Comments about Permatex Counterman's Choice Gasket Sealant and Dressing:

As a DIY'er, I used this as added leak protection on a transmission gasket. So far, so good....no leaks. I had just enough to do one side with with one package, and the other side with another. Be careful, as it is a mess. Very sticky!. I'd suggest using a razor blade to cut down the middle of the package, then finding yourself a tongue depressor, or something similar to scoop it out. This will help contain the product, and give you better control over it because, as I said, it is a sticky mess. The other reason I used it, was in hoping that when I go to replace the filter next time, it will be easier to remove the gasket. The stock gasket I had to remove from the pan was difficult at best. It was welded on the pan. Hopefully, this product will eliminate this problem.

You can use this sealant for a do-it-youselfer like me and toss the balance and not feel bad about it. Sealant performed as it was should ,no complaints.

Hello ECR. This type of sealant is not recommended. It is more for use with components that contain oil. For a differential we suggest using Part No 81182 which is formulated for gear oil components. We suggest checking with a certified mechanic for additional information.

Yes, it is always better to use a sealer for the intake gaskets as those black rubbers for the end walls get thrown away and you use a nice sized bead of silicon on each of the end walls and onto the edge of the gasket. The rubber pieces tend to squeeze and or blow out.
