This is truly a simple product, one that does what it is supposed to do at a reasonable price point.

While the instructions are not, quite, clear - - the product is so intuitive that this is not a drawback.

Simply put one end of the hose in the liquid to be transfered and squeeze the bladder (ball); before releasing the bladder, use a finger to block the other end (the one not in the liquid) so that the expanding bladder pulls in the liquid. Repeat, if necessary and you have established a siphon flow - - easily and without any risk of inhaling or swallowing the liquid.

The whole assembly appears to be durable, however depending on the liquid(s) being transferred - - is inexpensive enough to discard after one or two uses.

I bought to remove excess fluid from my vehicle's radiator overflow bottle and the job was done, the product full rinsed, etc. in under ten minutes.

A pleasure to use!

This product is so terrible I felt compelled to comment. I am not sure how something so worthless can be sold in a store. The plastic tubes kept falling off the rubber bulb (they never would screw on correctly in the first place) and the unit could not form a tight enough seal to get any liquid out whatsoever.

Comments about Performance Tools Super Siphon:

Accidentally (negligently?) put straight gas in a 2-cycle snow blower - oops! Bought this to remove the gas so I could replace it with the proper mix. Worked fine, although I'd recommend wearing gloves as I got a bit of gas on my hands. This doesn't have a valve in it, so you have to hold your thumb over the lower end to get the suction going. After that, it siphoned quite well.

Used this hand pump siphon to reduce the amount of power steering fluid in the resevoir. Worked great. I've only used it once, so I can't say how well the product will hold up on everyday use. The hoses on each end are relatively short, so I doubt they will reach down far enough to empty a car/truck gas tank.

I am moving and needed to drain the gasoline from my Honda Generator and a Suzuki Motorcycle. I used a kitchen baster for the motorcycle and it didn't work very well. The gas dissolved the baster. I bought this unit and it emptied a one gallon tank on the Honda generator in about 5 minutes. Worked as advertised

                    • Q:

I drank some water from a water jug with this BEFORE putting anything but water through it; I am clearly not "dead"- and will not do this again (assumed was safe for potable water if not interchanged as gasoline siphon); can I get manufacturer contact to see that a potential "anaphylactic rxn" is improbable?

I'm happy to help, JohnM! I spoke with Performance Tools about this Super Siphon (Part No. W1144/10800). They were unable to provide much additional detail in regards to the composition of the materials used in this siphon. If you are concerned for your health, I suggest speaking with your physician or possibly contacting poison control. You may also contact the manufacturer by phone at 800-426-1262 or by e-mail at tools@wilmarcorp.com.

Yes, it is always better to drain the tank before the fuel pump is being installed.

No. This item is garbage. It says "Siphon Pump" on the package, and it looks like you would just squeeze the bulb and pump fluids, but there are no valves in it. The instructions on the package tell you to put your thumb over the end of the hose when you use it. They do not specifically say so, but they're trying to hint that you should use your thumb as a one-way valve. This thing is nothing more than a hose with a cheap bulb in the middle. It is a useless, ridiculously cheap, and awful waste of money. I want my $5 back, Advance Auto Parts, and you should stop selling it. I'll bet you that $5 that not one person involved in deciding to sell this thing ever tried using it.

Anyone know the outer diameter and length of the suction hose? I need to feed it down the transmission filler tube to siphon out some excess fluid. I understand from the reviews that this thing is flimsy, but even if it only works once before it falls apart it's worth the 5 bucks to me to not have to drop the tranny pan just to remove a little fluid.
