Same stuff, less money

This is the same as the expensive GM Synchromesh at about half the price. Perfect for use in transaxles that have brass synchros (any make).

It's a good thing I checked online because it turns out they don't keep this gearlube out on the showroom floor. I wouldn't have asked if I didn't see it.

It is SUPER oil!

By

from Pueblo CO

Comments about Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

Works really well. Immediately noticed easier shifting at all temperatures. I read online that it was good to use in the Ranger/Explorer transmission instead of Mercon. This oil seems to dissipate heat much easier and lubricates the synchros like a super oil!

Superior alternative to GL-4 in MT's

Comments about Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

All of the manual transmissions with brass synchros that I've used Pennzoil Synchromesh in have had an improvement in shifting vs standard GL-4 gear oils. One caveat to keep in mind is that since Synchromesh is likely a thinner oil than the GL-4 your transmission calls for so I'd only recommend it in vehicles that see light duty use.

Comments about Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

Swapped out the "lifetime" synthetic 052 OEM fluid that was 12 years old with Redline MT. That worked OK but was very notchy in the cold and broke down within two years. Got VWs 070 fluid which was an improvement on the Redine that came out but as soon as the engine and tranny got hot the second gear synchro was not spooling up which meant the dreaded 2nd gear grind.

Spoke with a VW tranny specialist who said to put in Redline Shock Proof. I did some research and Shock Proof got mixed reviews. This Pennzoil Synchromesh also got mixed reviews but some said it had fixed the VW 02J (manual) transmission 2nd gear grind. Well... after just a few miles there was a marked difference. A few hundred miles later and there's no sign of grinding. I'm ordering a couple of extra bottles just to make sure I have some on hand. Great stuff, doesn't thin out like the VW oil.

Comments about Pennzoil Synchromesh Manual Transmission Fluid (1 Quart):

I tried to find MOPAR Manual Transmission Lubricant locally and couldn't. I found it online for about 25 bucks a quart, so I declined. I realized this is compatible with Mopar 4874464, so decided to give it a shot.

I did a full drain and fill with my mechanic and my old fluid was low and black. I filled it up with this and honestly the 1st couple of hundred miles it felt worse or just as bad as before. Hard to shift etc.

About a 300 miles into it, starting acting like new. I honestly forgot about it and didn't notice how smooth the shifts were. I am not sure why it took 300 miles to see it work but I'm just glad it did.

My mechanic was going to put regular ATF in my truck, but I'm glad I purchased this. It was very inexpensive and more importantly it eventually worked! Fixed my shifting problems.

My 2005 Scion xB 5-speed, which I've owned since it was new, has been having more & more trouble shifting properly, to the point that double-clutching was needed to hit first gear when coming to a stop without grinding gears. At approximately 30,000 miles I bought (from Advance) & installed Royal Purple 75W90-which works great in my truck differentials, but not so much in the xB. The Pennzoil Syncromesh fluid is normally only recommended for GM vehicles-but in my xB it makes the syncros shift like BRAND NEW!! Hope it lasts!

I purchased a 2004 Mach 1 Mustang. It has a five speed and I noticed that the shifting was not that smooth. I decided to change the transmission fluid and had read that the transmission manufacture recommended Synchromesh. The change made a nice difference in the way the transmission shifts, no grinding, nice and smooth.

No, Bill! We do not recommend using Pennzoil Synchromesh for a 1998 Chevy S10 NV1500 transmission. It calls for a fluid like GM part number 12377916. This is close to Pennzoil Synchromesh, but not exactly, so for that reason we will not be able to recommend it here.
