Couldnt believe price for the value and from a large company. All others were going for well over $100 for something like this. Love that it has low charge alert in case it needs to be recharged. Just grab it and pack it to jump most any battery you need. Lawn mower problems? This gets you going. With Winter here I cant imagine how much use it will get. My Dad loves it! As a jumper he said it was simple to use and used it straight out of the box in an emergency even before the initial plug in and charge. No problems. That is however the only thing I didnt like though. You have to plug it in for 36 hrs before using it. Havent come across any other problems yet. Great Item!

My first one had to go back because it would not charge at all. The 2nd one came and it will only charge to 90%. Not worth all the work returning. You need a jump starter you can trust. This product is not it. Shop for another product even if you have to pay $10-$15 more. I don't trust the Peak product line after this experience.

Comments about 900 Amp Peak Jumpstarter:

Would have rated it 0 stars if that was option.

Bought this Jan 2015 for what I thought was a good deal at Advance Auto. Brought it home and charged it up and used it 1 time last winter to help start car with low battery. Recharged it and put away in trunk for future as needed. Got it out of trunk this year in Nov to check on it and battery had drained itself to 30%. Tried to recharge and really cheap plug built into the back would not charge it. Played with it and could only get it to charge by pulling hard on the extension cord. Checked and confirmed extension cord was not problem. Rigged up way to keep tension on extension cord so it would charge, and it would only charge to 50%. Tried multiple times and cannot get it to charge further. Battery had degraded 50% in 1 year rendering it useless other than for a flashlight.

Very disappointed as I now read the reviews and learn it is simply not a good product.

      DON'T BUY IT!

I needed to replace my worn out battery pack so I bought this unit. Sadly I read comments after purchase. First issue I have is that manual says to charge 36 hours but right off in under 20 minutes the unit shows it has a full charge. I've yet to use it and hope it works when I need it. Leary that it will but at least I now to do my research next time n something that should be simple.

Comments about 900 Amp Peak Jumpstarter:

I purchased this jumper from Advance Auto and it was serving me well, until the charging prongs broke. After multiple attempts to contact Peak customer service I got technical support on the phone. The agent informed me this is a known issue, but there was nothing he was prepared to do about it if the item was outside the one-year warranty. In addition, he stated that some products are still being sold with the defective design. If you want a jump-starter that you can no longer charge from a company who is comfortable selling defective designs and fails to stand behind their products, this is a great choice! I strongly encourage Advance Auto to reconsider their sale of Peak Jump-starters.

i work at a gas station every week we get cars that need jump start. i had it for a week i use it twice once on a gmc pick-up truck and a corvette. the truck took some time but it work and the corvette started right away after i hook up my jump starter. both customers left happy and i was happy that i made such a great purchase. i never have to worry about being stuck on the side of the road with a died battery. It has happen before not a good feeling you find out there not to many nice people that are willing to help you out i think every one should have a jump starter the only negative thing is it don't have air pressure machine

Comments about 900 Amp Peak Jumpstarter:

I bought this thinking I was getting a great deal on a good product but I was mistaken. It worked great once when I first got it and that was it. Although I kept it fully charged, on subsequent uses it failed to jump start any car batteries.

My initial thought when it wouldn't jump the second battery was that the car's battery was so dead that it was beyond help. I used my small plug-in jump starter and it started fine. This scenario happened several times.

The final straw was when my motorcycle battery was low due to sitting for a couple of months. The starter only clicked as I pressed the starter button and I thought for sure this would be more than enough power for such a small battery. Wrong! Again I had to use my small plug in charger and it fired right up.

At that point if finally dawned on me that this was nothing more than an expensive flashlight / phone charger.

Comments about 900 Amp Peak Jumpstarter:

First off, they re-designed this model a few years ago. This store never updated their picture. The old unit layed flat on its side. This one is shorter and thicker, making it toucher to store.
Most annoying thing about the re-design is that the old model had recessed switches, which prevented items stored against it from accidentally turing on the LED lights while in storage. The new model does not have recessed lights and I often find the jumpstarted in a near-dead condition with the lights on.
Another annoying thing is that it doesn't take that long for the battery to start to degrade.
And the last thing that bothers me about this unit is that the battery is not replacable, as some units allow. Once the battery pack stops working well enough to crank an engine, that's it.

First I charged it to 99%, tried to use it to jump start my SUV, it cranked, but could not start though.

Then I take it back, charged it over night, it showed "FL" - I guess it means FULL. Connected it up and tried to start my car, but only cranked a little, and the charge percentage shown dropped straight to 65%

                      Returned it back to store.

The charge reported right after unpacking is a "static" shelf charge. It should be plugged in the prescribed 36 hours for a full self-charge state.

After the battery reports a full state, it will change to a maintenance charge, using less power, to keep the battery from discharging. This will not shorten the life of the battery.

                      • Q:

I am thinking of buying this unit to replace an old Coleman jump start unit whose battery has aged out. This Coleman unit would allow you to recharge not only with AC current from a wall outlet, but also with 12 volt DC current from the cigarette lighter of your car. It came with an external 12-volt AC charger and also a separate recharge cord with cigarette lighter plug on its end. Both the AC charger cord and the cigarette lighter charger cord plugged into the same 12-volt recharge inlet on the unit. Does the Peak unit permit one to recharge from your car? I don’t see where the Peak unit has a separate recharge port on it as its AC charger is built in. I wonder, however, if the DC outlet on the front of the Peak unit can be used in reverse to feed 12 volt DC into the unit to recharge it from the cigarette lighter in my car in cases where there is an AC power outage?

Hi Impala owner! This units have a built in AC charger that will charge when connected to a wall outlet using a standard extension cord. They will not charge through the 12 V DC socket, and do not have an option to charge through the vehicle's cigarette lighter.

My pack is at 55% charge. When I plug it in to top the charge off, it doesn't charge. Just stays at 55%. What am I doing wrong?

Hi David, I'm glad to help you! Please try a light duty indoor type extension cord to charge the unit. The unit's display should flash continuously when plugged in. If the unit does not charge using this type of cord, then begin a warranty claim.
