Couldnt believe price for the value and from a large company. All others were going for well over $100 for something like this. Love that it has low charge alert in case it needs to be recharged. Just grab it and pack it to jump most any battery you need. Lawn mower problems? This gets you going. With Winter here I cant imagine how much use it will get. My Dad loves it! As a jumper he said it was simple to use and used it straight out of the box in an emergency even before the initial plug in and charge. No problems. That is however the only thing I didnt like though. You have to plug it in for 36 hrs before using it. Havent come across any other problems yet. Great Item!

My first one had to go back because it would not charge at all. The 2nd one came and it will only charge to 90%. Not worth all the work returning. You need a jump starter you can trust. This product is not it. Shop for another product even if you have to pay $10-$15 more. I don't trust the Peak product line after this experience.

First I charged it to 99%, tried to use it to jump start my SUV, it cranked, but could not start though.

Then I take it back, charged it over night, it showed "FL" - I guess it means FULL. Connected it up and tried to start my car, but only cranked a little, and the charge percentage shown dropped straight to 65%

          Returned it back to store.

Replaced the 400cca unit with the 900 cca unit. Did not matter. Would still not crank the engine on my stock Corvette. Additionally both of the clamps disintegrated after only a few uses and I cannot find replacements. The standard clamps are too big to use with this unit.

I bought this to replace an old jumper box that I had bought from Walmart. I paid almost double the price for this one thinking it was a trusted brand name and would last several years. I have had this box a little over a year and it is already worn out. I have only used it a handful of occasions and have been diligent in maintaining it. Pass on this box and find another one that will last and costs less.

These are garbage. I don't know why Advance would carry this item. DO BUY,, They don't hold charges. Only good for charging your phone in the USB port.
I have had two. The first I returned. The second,,I needed it to jump a mower - nothing...

The charge reported right after unpacking is a "static" shelf charge. It should be plugged in the prescribed 36 hours for a full self-charge state.

After the battery reports a full state, it will change to a maintenance charge, using less power, to keep the battery from discharging. This will not shorten the life of the battery.

Hi Ken, glad to help you! This Jump-Starter is delivered in a partially charged state. Fully charge unit with the supplied 110/120-volt AC charger to the recommended maximum and initial charge time of 36 hours. Thereafter, an AC typical charge time is 18 to 24 hours when using the AC charger. For more information, visit this manual link. URL - http://images.peakauto.com/PKC0AZ_900_PkAmp_JumpStarter.pdf

I am thinking of buying this unit to replace an old Coleman jump start unit whose battery has aged out. This Coleman unit would allow you to recharge not only with AC current from a wall outlet, but also with 12 volt DC current from the cigarette lighter of your car. It came with an external 12-volt AC charger and also a separate recharge cord with cigarette lighter plug on its end. Both the AC charger cord and the cigarette lighter charger cord plugged into the same 12-volt recharge inlet on the unit. Does the Peak unit permit one to recharge from your car? I don’t see where the Peak unit has a separate recharge port on it as its AC charger is built in. I wonder, however, if the DC outlet on the front of the Peak unit can be used in reverse to feed 12 volt DC into the unit to recharge it from the cigarette lighter in my car in cases where there is an AC power outage?

Is there an adapter to charge this unit from a standard cigarette lighter?
Can the low charge alert be turned off until charging can be started?

The jump starter was low on charge and I plugged it in for charging. While it is charging, I see the display FL. I have never seen that before. What does it mean? Is something wrong with the jump starter?

Hi Kaydee, happy to help you! In the display "FL" is Full which indicated the battery charging status, otherwise it gives you a 2 digit number like "85" which means 85% estimated charge remaining.

The green light stays on after fully charging. Is this supposed to stay on and use power or do I have to do something to get the light to go out?

Is it that it cannot be charged with a regular extension cord as I was told by someone in the store?

Hi Michele, glad to assist you! There are two versions of the PKC0AZ Jumpstarter. One unit requires an AC adapter which plugs into the wall and then into the charging jack on the front of the unit. This unit also has a series of lights across the top that identify the state of charge. The newer unit has a built in AC adapter with two fold out prongs which then can be connected to a light duty indoor type extension cord in order to charge the unit. This unit as a digital percentage readout with 2 red number and a blue percentage sign. I have forwarded the manual for both units to your email address so you can take a look on that for more information.

Happy to help, Don! The PKC0AZ-03 has a built in AC adapter with two fold out terminals in the back of the unit that connect to a standard extension cord. The older style PKC0AZ use a plug into the wall AC Charger. The specification on the charger are: 12 V DC and 300 ma output, center positive pin and the pin dimensions are 2.5 mm x 5.5 mm x 12 mm. I would recommend that you check with the nearest Advance store and one of our parts pros will be glad to assist you with an availability of the AC Charger with this specification.

Glad to assist you, Penny! The user manual of this jump starter has been sent to your email address. If the unit doesn't have a digital display, then you can't charge it with an extension cord. If it has LED lights that indicate the amount of charge, then you have to charge it with the wall adapter.
