Comments about OTC Windshield Wiper Puller:

This is awful! You are meant to place it under the wiper arm post with the "bolt" piece aligned with the wiper shaft, but the tip of the bolt is a rounded shape, so, you must leave the original nut on the post, backed off until it is loose, to keep the shaft of the tool centered so that it does not "walk" away. The handle is connected to the shaft by means of many splines, but it is made of cheap plastic, so twisting with the amount of torque needed to get a wiper arm free of a post will strip all of the plastic threads away, meaning, you will need to use locking pliers to grab the metal splines yourself, and inevitably strip them away as you struggle to twist the shaft in the confined quarters near an opened hood. I wish I had gotten something built a little smarter and stronger.

        Useless tool

        By

Comments about OTC Windshield Wiper Puller:

Poorly designed and over priced. Could not remove the wiper with this tool. As I tightened - the tool shifted as the design did not allow it to be properly centered on the shaft screw.

        cheap

        By

        from upstate NY

Comments about OTC Windshield Wiper Puller:

Tool was too small to center over wiper post. Plastic!! handle spun on shaft with minimal torque applied. Attempt to use with channel lock pliers caused the entire body to flex due to insufficient/improper material, resulting in rod walking off post.

I went to the store with the intent of purchasing the Lisle version advertised on the website, but this is the only thing they stock. I now see that there is an OTC version (online only!) of the Lisle type puller, and it's actually less than this piece.

Buy a proper puller. Fortunately, I still have the receipt.

Threaded rod stripped on first attempt to remove wiper. Had to use main body as guide only and separate nut and bolt to remove wiper.

I picked this up at the store locally since I needed one ASAP and didn't want to wait a few days. I had read some of the online reviews stating the construction was cheap and the total broke. I had none of these issues on my 2004 GMC Sierra. There was no way to get this with a flat blade screwdriver, which everyone at the auto parts store thought I should use. Advance was the only store in town that had one locally. Put it on and the wiper arm popped right off with minimal effort.

The rounded tip causes the item to slide off the wiper shaft and the bottom tines bent before one eventually broke off while leaving the wiper arm firmly attached.

Comments about OTC Windshield Wiper Puller:

The small knob on the tool made it a bit difficult to put enough tension on the wiper arm. But I'm sure it was made that way so you wouldn't break the lightweight aluminum tool. I found that cranking down a bit on the tool and then a sharp tap with a hammer and screwdriver on the wiper shaft got mine off with minimal effort.

well made tool at resonable price

Comments about OTC Windshield Wiper Puller:

It looks very effective and it is well made and very affordable but it would not fit the wiper arms on my car due to the cowl design blocking it's application. a design flaw of the car, not the tool. I would still recommend it's use.
