This was a great battery to start with. I have a 1500 watt audio system in the trunk of my 2008 Mazda 3S and running the OEM Panasonic battery just wasn't cutting it, even with the 3 Farad capacitor I have. The power steering always made my lights dim, even before the system and after the system, the lights got even more dim during high current draw situations. After I installed this battery, the light wouldn't dim as much, as it's a Deep Cycle battery as well as a starting battery, but I only drive this car on the weekends and sometimes a week or 2 goes by before I even start the car. I purchased this battery online and picked it up at my local store in November of 2011.. The battery had a date sticker of 2/10. I had to return and exchange it in March of 2012 (2 years after manufacture) because it had a "bad cell." My advice is to CALL THE STORES CLOSEST TO YOU BEFORE YOU ORDER ONLINE AND SEE WHO HAS THE NEWEST BATTERY, then pick up your order at that location. You only get 1 return, so hopefully this one outlasts the whole 4 months I had the first one... If not, I will not be a returning Optima customer.

My wife was on a trip when the original battery in our 2007 Nissan Quest van failed. I'd always been curious whether a gel cell battery is truly any better a d worth the additional money. I went ahead and bit the bullet and had her purchase this battery. The van gets normal usage, no high powered stereo, no times when the key or lights are left on intentionally (and have never had any instances of them being left on unintentionally). I maintain the vehicle myself (been a professional auto technician for over 3 decades now) and keep the terminals clean, along with everything under the hood. Pretty much an ideal environment for a battery. Considering this high priced battery failed shortly after the 3 year warranty period expired disappoints me enough that I will never buy an Optima battery again. Definitely not worth the money!

Comments about OPTIMA Batteries YellowTop Dual-Purpose Battery, Group 35, 620 CCA:

The OEM battery I had on my '09 Altima quit almost 5 years to the day. So I jumped it and gave it a nominal charge that I knew couldn't keep for long until I drove it to my favorite auto shop. I was gonna get a cheaper more conventional battery but it wasn't available so they offered this Optima at a reduced price since it was the only compatible battery they had. I went ahead and had it installed. Fast-forward to that winter. I leave town to visit family, and was gone about 4 weeks. When I came back the battery was completely dead. There was no juice AT ALL, and I had not left anything on. I had a jumper battery only a few months old and that was barely able to get the thing to turn over, but no matter how far I drove it, the battery would not hold a charge from the alternator. I brought it back in and had them replace the battery on warranty. I assumed it was a one-off dud. BUT IT HAPPENED AGAIN!! Six months later the *replacement* died and wouldn't hold a charge. I had my alternator tested and it was working just fine. So now I have an autocraft that hasn't had any issues, and I'm never buying another Optima again!

Comments about OPTIMA Batteries YellowTop Dual-Purpose Battery, Group 35, 620 CCA:

I am on the second battery so far and am returning it today!Had me thinking my starter and then later that my alternator was failing but it was the battery. Have been to the store four times this year already, now they are saying it likely electrical issue with car. First battery had a bad cell(Tested and replaced), now this one will not take charge(Tested and NOT replaced- the store is blaming my car)discharges in 36 hrs. I tried a friend's AGM battery just to see, WORKED LIKE A CHARM. DANG THESE OPTIMUM BATTERIES!!! PLEASE DO NOT BUY!! Am out money(had to buy a starter box) and time( late to work-nearly fired) on this but thankfully I have a 'headache' to go along with it. They should do better for all that money and take their battery back. NO PEACE OF MIND. TRUST THAT.

Save the cover of the battery to use as a washer / adapter for a 2004 Toyota Sienna . The battery is easy to install but the height of the battery is too short for the existing bracket to hold the battery in place.
Taking the battery cover flipping it over, placing it under the new battery I was able to easily tighten down the bracket that holds the battery in place. Too new to rate for longevity as I purchase 2day. Check back in 6 years

All vehicles and boats have an Optima Battery. Have been using them for years. So far have never had any issues. In my opinion well worth the extera money. Not so bad if you can pick up a coupon or other discount.

I have a 2014 Toyota Corolla and I run about 600 watts of power through my stereo system which includes one 10" subwoofer. Would I benefit running this yellow top battery or would I even notice a difference? I am not currently experiencing any problems.

                A:

I'm happy to help, Chris! This Optima YellowTop Dual-Purpose Battery (Part No. D35) is a great option if you have a lot of equipment that you may be using with the vehicle off. It is better able to handle a deep discharge than a RedTop or typical starting battery.

The battery in your vehicle's electrical system is intended for starting and as reserve when the vehicle is off. When the vehicle is on, your alternator is what powers your audio system.

A great upgrade for the battery in your 2014 Toyota Corolla 1.8L L4 is an Optima Red Top Battery (Part No. 35). This battery will provide increased vibration resistance and will also be able to handle some use of devices and your car audio system with the vehicle off (not to the extent of a YellowTop).
