Comments about NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (BKR6EIX):

My Saab 9-3 had been misfiring and reading low fuel pressure. After reading around a bit, I came across a post claiming that iridium spark plugs will fix that problem in Saabs. I was skeptical, but there have been no misfires, engine codes, or problems of any kind after installing these. I would HIGHLY recommend to any Saab owner having the same problems. The slightly more expensive spark plugs is a much better fix than new coil packs or getting it serviced.

I dropped these into BMW E46 with 30K on plugs (4 prong NGKs), and Volvo V70 with 30K on single prong NGK nickel plugs. (They take same plugs) The Volvo experienced a very clear power improvement under full throttle, plus noticeable mpg improvement on highway. The BMW experienced . . . nothing. The Volvo plugs were out of spec on removal, the BMW's were not. TO be expected, but I was impressed that only 30K truly ate the Volvo plugs.

These are a great upgrade for my 1998 BMW M3. I had the NGK Laser Platniums before. I always change my plugs every 30-40k, so I didn't feel any improvement in performance over the Laser Plats yet as I had it for only 50 miles. But these were cheaper. And way cheaper than the BMW ones.

I'm happy to help, David! This NGK Iridium Ix Spark Plug (BKR6EIX) - Part No. 6418 is an exact fit for your 2004 Volkswagen Passat. It is pre-gapped at 0.031"-inch from the factory. All the spark plugs are pre-gapped from the factory, the fact remains that the gap must be adjusted for the vehicle that the spark plug is intended for. Those with modified engines must remember that a modified engine with higher compression or forced induction will typically require a smaller gap settings.
