    Listed Under Wrong Part

Comments about National Wheel Ball Bearing:

This is listed as a front wheel bearing. It is actually for rear wheels for years 01'-09', NOT the front wheels. Search 510072 for front wheel bearing. You can verify by going to [@] and looking at the "Automotive Aftermarket Bearing and Seal Application Catalog" pg. 198. It is the same part number referenced on this website.

      Ford Contour Front Wheel Bearing

Comments about National Wheel Ball Bearing:

I ordered the part and picked it up with no problems. The part fit properly into the steering knuckle. I am concerned that, even though it is an enclosed bearing, it does not utilize a dust shield. Why? Because I have gone through three bearings inside of a year because of dirt contamination. It could have been caused by a combination of having purchased cheap bearings or a bad installation procedure where the shop did not use the multitude of tools that Ford recommends. Two of the bearings failed because the thin piece of metal at the back of the bearing which holds the bearings and grease inside the bearing came apart. I don't know if the shop is at fault or if it was the bearings fault. Had a shield been installed no contaniments would have gotten inside. I bought this Timken comperable bearing because it is as close to being OEM as I care to afford. We'll see how well it holds up.

Can these be installed by a "shade treet" mechanic or do they have to me pressed in and the old one pressed out? 2001 Ford Esscape front wheel bearing.

        • CUSTOMER CARE

          A:

Well this all depends on the skill level of whoever is removing or replacing the part. Some may have a harder time than others who have experience. They do have to be pressed in and out; however, you may be able to achieve this with a C clamp.
