i have a 2005 honda odyssey with an axle leak. Will this seal the leak. Honda dealership wants to charge me $175.
Asked on 9/29/2016 by david from Gastonia,NC

      A:

Yes, David, the repair sleeve (Part No. 99139) will seal the leak. However, without the presence of your vehicle we would not be able to properly diagnose it, nor provide you with a 100% answer. I would suggest that you take your vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.

      A:

Hi Stan! I do not have any way of looking up with specifications. I can only look them up by a vehicle. If you can tell me your vehicle's sub-model and engine size, I can suggest parts available for that vehicle.

  • Q:

HOOW DO I REPLACE REAR PINION SEAL 1999 SUBARU LEGACY?
    Asked on 5/12/2013 by LITTLEBIT

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

With reference to your inquiry on the National Redi-Sleeve - part# 99139, park your Subaru Legacy on a solid level surface to ensure that it does not roll or lean when raised. Raise the rear of the vehicle using a jack. Secure the vehicle with jack stands on both sides for safety before starting any work. Do not rely on the jack to hold the vehicle up while working. Inspect the rear differential housing for oil leaks. Remove the gear oil fill plug. Mark the drive shaft rear u-joint and the pinion flange for installation reference. Disconnect the u-joint from the pinion flange. Mark the pinion flange, pinion shaft and nut for installation reference. Remove the nut and washer from the pinion shaft. With a drain pan under the pinion flange, remove the flange out and away from the differential. Pop out the pinion seal using your hands or a screwdriver. Wipe the housing clean and insert the new seal. Lube the seal with oil. Inspect the pinion flange for grooves. Install the pinion flange, washer, and nut, and torque to the manufacturer's specifications. Connect the driveshaft back to the pinion flange and torque the retaining bolts to the manufacturer's specifications. Fill the differential housing with the manufacturer's recommended gear oil. Tighten the drain plug to 20-30 ft. lbs. of torque. Lower the vehicle to the ground. Road test the vehicle to verify your repair. If any leaks are found address as necessary. For any further assistance, you may also call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store and one of our Parts Pros will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

  • Q:

    I have a 1997 Buick Riviera 3.8L S/C, 4 speed automatic with about 130,000 miles on it.

About 3 months ago the right front then a couple weeks later the left Front wheels started a low smooth growling and loping, like whoomp, ...whoomp noise with each wheel rotation.

Now, both front wheels, drive axle shafts or hubs are now roaring loudly between 35 and 40 mph then it tapers out to a quieter noise, like worn tires. I would like to know if anyone has any idea what I need to replace?

The CV joints have been knocking a little when turning hard from a standing start for about a year, however, this hasn't gotten any worse. It's just the roaring. You have to yell, just to have a conversation. Can anyone point me to what, I need to replace, so my Riviera will get back to that smooth, quiet ride.
