Q:Which end goes into the hub and which end goes against the backing plate?
A:I\'m happy to help, Hank! Typically, the flanged side will face the inside and the flat side will face out on your 1966 Dodge Polara.
Q:Ok, so I'm going to install these seals after having the front drums turned at a machine shop. Unfortunately I did not note the orientation of the seals when the machinist tapped them out along with the inner wheel bearings which I had left in. Now I need to know which side faces the bearing inside the hub and which side faces the backing plate. These seals have a flange on one side. I'd say the flange is about 1/4 inch. You can see it in the picture of the item.
