    Which end goes into the hub and which end goes against the backing plate?

      I\'m happy to help, Hank! Typically, the flanged side will face the inside and the flat side will face out on your 1966 Dodge Polara.

  • Q:

    Ok, so I'm going to install these seals after having the front drums turned at a machine shop. Unfortunately I did not note the orientation of the seals when the machinist tapped them out along with the inner wheel bearings which I had left in. Now I need to know which side faces the bearing inside the hub and which side faces the backing plate. These seals have a flange on one side. I'd say the flange is about 1/4 inch. You can see it in the picture of the item.
