  • Q:

My mechanic wrote me a list of parts i needed, he showed me underneath my vehicle and showed me oil was leaking so he said i needed to the valve cover gasket done then he said once he removes that that might as well replace the seal for the timing cover, are these two parts related?? or near each other? i just want to ensure im buying the right product so the oil can stop leaking

I'm happy to help, Darris! Replacing the timing seal on your vehicle may be a good idea depending on the design of the engine of your vehicle. On an overhead cam type vehicle, it's more likely that this seal will need to be replaced. This National Oil Seal (Part No. 710608) is engineered to fit multiple vehicles from Acura, Chrysler, Dodge, Freightliner, Honda, Jaguar, Jeep and Mercedes-Benz. With most mechanics, like most doctors, you can always get a second opinion. To find a mechanic in your area, please try our 'Need expert help?' link located further down this page.
