I searched for a pilot bearing for an 84 Celica Supra 2.8 5MGE L6 and this came up, but the description says its an alternator bearing. One or the other isn't correct. How can I be sure this is in fact a pilot bearing?

      A:

I'm glad to assist, Matthew! Thank you for bringing this to our attention. This National Ball Bearing (Part No. 201-CC) can be utilized in many locations on many different vehicles. I was able to find that this bearing does have the proper dimension to be utilized as a pilot bearing on your 1984 Toyota Celica Supra 2.8L 5MGE L6. I will request that we update the Product Application(s) information to indicate that the product will fit in this position on those vehicles.

With a center hole diameter of LESS then 1/2 an inch, an outside diameter of only 1.25 inch, and confirmation that this bearing is also used as a pilot bearing on an '86 Toyota, this bearing is DEFINITELY NOT a wheel bearing for ANY vehicle, much yet alone a 2002 Subaru Outback.

For help with your project, I recommend getting a repair manual specifically for your vehicle. It should be able to help you with detailed instructions on how to do many things.
