    should you change bolts when replacing exhaust gaskets

      Hi Nicki, thanks for reaching out. It is not necessary to replace header bolts along with gaskets. Sometimes an exhaust manifold starts to leak because a mounting bolt has broken. If this happens, the mechanic will have to remove the broken bolt or stud, which can increase the labor time needed to fix the problem. If any of the bolts are stripped or look worn, plan on replacing them at the same time you replace the exhaust manifold.
