Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Platinum Iridium Spark Plug:

Faced with high garage fees, I decided to take on changing the plugs myself. Leave yourself plenty of time for the job as it is a bit difficult to get to all the tight spots. Recommend replacing the coil on plug boots at same time, especially if the engine is running rough. Make sure to have the correct socket wrench and different lengths of extension rods. Once coil on plugs are removed, be sure to use compressed air to blow out any dirt or debris from around the spark plug to ensure nothing falls into the cylinder. Make sure gap is correct and use an electrical lubricant on the inside of the plug boot and spark plug top. Be patient, go slowly and definitely have a magnetic rod or retractable "grabber" in the event you drop any retaining screws or other parts. Each plug has an electrical connector on the top with a retaining screw that must be removed to access the plug boot.

Had 125K on orginal plugs and figured it was time to replace. Truck is running better with new plugs. As previous reviews take your time and have 1/4 or 3/8 unvirsal joint socket with several extensions on hand. This will make your life easier when changing plugs.

It's a good question, Mitch! All the spark plugs are pre-gapped from the factory, the fact remains that the gap must be adjusted for the vehicle that the spark plug is intended for. Those with modified engines must remember that a modified engine with higher compression or forced induction will typically require a smaller gap settings.

                            A:

Changing spark plugs is actually quite easy. Once you locate the spark plugs on your engine, just use a ratchet, a long enough extension, and the spark plug socket to fit your spark plugs. Simply unscrew the old ones and then insert the new ones. Screw them down by hand until the bottom out and then give them a turn or two with your ratchet and you should be good. For better assistance, I recommend getting a repair manual for your vehicle. It will be able to give you more detailed steps for your specific vehicle.
