Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment (OE) Fuel Filter:

I bought a nice '92 F150. Some said this fuel filter was an easy change. They must have some type of spreader to remove the filter from the holder. I had no problems with the lines. I have the tools I need but getting the filter out after disconnecting it is a bear. I ended up tying a phone line at the top and pulling it to spread the holder open slightly and tied it off. I did the same to the lower half. After that it came out pretty easily. Hope this helps you out. I tried to be honest here. I have been working on cars since the '60s and I think this was one of the toughest fuel filters I've ever changed. There's not much room to remove the rear line but you can do it. I had some plastic line wrenches that slipped over the line and easily unlocked the spring. You can do this but it takes patience. Lots of luck.

Good to know I cant get quality motorcraft/ford parts locally. Just replaced this as part of a tune-up on my '95 Ranger. While the other one wasn't restricted it feels good to know I will be getting better filtration with this new one.

Good factory part that is made solid. Takes time to install. You will need a Ford fuel line disconnect tool to remove the old filter. The trouble is worth the outcome

I would like to see new plastic clips to come with this part, to replace old ones. The clips can easily get broken when removing them with the old ones.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment (OE) Fuel Filter:

OEM Replacement fuel filter for my '97 Ford F150 4.6 V8. To remove the old filter on the F150, a special tool is needed to release the fuel lines. Instead, I used a cap from a Sharpie marker! Here's how: First, remove the safety clips by hand from each side of the filter. Cut about 3/8" off the open end of a Sharpie cap. Take the cut piece and slice it open with scissors or a sharp razor. Next, slip it over one end of the old filter in front of the fuel line. With pliers over the cap, work it into (under) the fuel line while pushing the fuel line against it with your other hand. Keep working it until the fuel line is released. Repeat for the other side. Place the new filter in the holding bracket. Be careful not to bend/damage the new filter putting it in. Snap the fuel line on each end and re install the safety clips. Hope this helps!

This fuel filter is the factory part for ford trucks. it matches the requirments for my ford van. fairly easy to replace. Make sure to remove the fuse for the fuel pump system or you will spray fuel all over and have a potential hazard. you need the tool to remove the fuel lines from the old filter. you can remove the battery cables from the battery if you can't locate the fuse to disable the fuel system. you should consult the service manual for your specific vehicle before attempting to replace the fuel filter.
