originally, i replaced the factory plugs in my 2000 ford f150 4.2L with bosch platinum spark plugs. a mechanic friend later advised that that i should use the standard ford platinum plugs because the ford sparks the plug with two charges and other standard plugs will not hold up as well to this.
i noticed an immediate increase in power and smoothness to my engine when i installed the motorcraft platinum plugs and am glad i made the change.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Finewire Single Platinum Spark Plug:

My check engine light came on which was no surprise. My truck was shuddering like an unbalanced washing machine. Cylinder 5 misfire. I couldn't even tell what kind of plug came out of there, it was so fouled. Put a Motorcraft plug in and it was good to go. Not very pricey and well worth having my smooth running truck back.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Finewire Single Platinum Spark Plug:

Bought a used truck where the previous owner installed conventional Bosch plugs.

I read in more than one on-line forum/ resource that conventional plugs don't work that well in the 4.2 V6 so I bit the bullet and got a set of Firewires.

I read the Bosch plugs, they indicated proper fuel mixture and heat range.

Installing the Firewire plugs made an immediate improvement in performance.

Moral of the story is that just because something of quality works you have to spend the money and put in what is called for. Next time out, if I have the truck that long because these plugs have a reputation of lasting a long time, I'll try Bosch Platnums but for now I needed to set a base line to compare to.

Comments about Motorcraft Original Equipment Finewire Single Platinum Spark Plug:

In the early 90's I had good luck with gimmick plugs, especially Bosch platinum's. Lots have changed with OBD II computers, and multi port fuel injection. I have had experience with failures of lower quality "old school" copper plugs where they are not specified, as well as performance decreases with non OE platinums. Ford seems the most susceptable to this. YOU CAN'T GO WRONG WITH MOTORCRAFT OE spec PLUGS in a Ford. (MOTORCRAFT IS THE BEST OPTION FOR FORD) I just put these in an 01 Escort that was pinging like it had a bad lifter, and was running bad. I pulled out the #4 spark plug first as it had thrown a misfire code on cyl 4. It was an Autolite copper plug, and the insulator was burnt heavily in one section. I put the new plugs in, and the sounds were gone. The 2.0 is running as good as it was intended to now.

i have found that the factory tunes for the best milage and reliabilaty on non performance vehicles, so i believe putting the original plugs is the only way to go. plus having tried different (cheaper) plugs in different vehicle and found the dont perform per gallon wise as well as original

I was told Motorcraft plugs work best for Ford vehicles so that's what I bought. A bit more expensive than other brands but that was expected. Depends on the vehicles you will probably need to re-gap them first before installation.
