Hi Customer, glad to help you! The Valvoline max life full synthetic multi-vehicle automatic transmission fluid is suitable for use in Ford Mercon, MerconV, MerconSP, and MMerconLV applications. We do have an exact automatic transmission fluid available online for your vehicle and the part number is 06814. Please enter your vehicle on our website and search for this part to check the fitment. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. • Q:

I have a 2009 Mercury Mariner with 3.0 liter engine. The owners manual indicates part number XT-10-QLV for the Motorcraft ATF for this vehicle. The part number listed at Advance has a C at the end of the part number which is XT10QLVC. Is this product compatible for the 2009 Mariner? On a side note, what is the additional C indicating? Thanks

Happy to assist you Conrad! From what I was able to find it appears that the C at the end of it is a revised part number by Ford.

      A:

I'm happy to help, Bob! When looking for vehicle specific information, please include the year of the vehicle. Ford may change specified fluids year to year. From my research, it looks as though Ford first put the 6-speed automatic transmission in the 2010 Ford Fusion SE 3.0L V6. Ford calls for a T-IV JWS 3009 fluid meeting WSS-M2C924-A specifications.

At this time I am able to locate two products that meet these specifications. Mobil ATF 3309 and Motorcraft XT-8-QAW. I suggest checking with your local store for availability as these products are not available through AdvanceAutoParts.com at this time.

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi Charlie, great question! Mercon LV is a forward-looking fluid, it is designed to deliver key performance benefits for 2008 models and beyond. It is intended to coexist with Mercon V going forward, and the two are not interchangeable. The LV stands for "low viscosity." It is a fully synthetic ATF. It is not compatible with earlier Mercon fluids, so it should neither be mixed with Mercon or Mercon V used to replace those fluids. It is not compatible with any other fluid, either.
