Comments about MOOG Tie Rod End:

Without the allen on the end of the bolt to hold it in place, the whole bolt just spins in the joint while you're trying to tighten down the castle nut.

Comments about MOOG Tie Rod End:

I had to replace these in my 2001 VW, 2.0 AVH golf. These are far superior to the one that were stock with the car. Well, I didn't know anything about Moog except for the fact that they are supposed to have a reputation for improving some orginal designs to better meet the needs of the cars. Well, in this case that's exactly what happened! The when removing the tie rod ends on these model VW's there is a bolt that sits down in the tie rod's housing, and below that there is a nut to be removed when installing a new one. The bottom of the bolt has a spot to insert I believe a 6 or 7 mm hex so that you can old the bolt steady while you remove the nut. Here's were the problem came for me. My factor tie rod end had rusted and become mishapped so when I tried to remove the bolt, it began to rotate inside the tie rod (under the bushing) and I could not get it off. I was so frustrated because it should have been fairly easy. I eventually had to use a recipicating saw to cut through the bold to remove it. So, I ordered the beck/arnley ends first. Much to my disappointment, the new ones also did not have a place at the bottom of the bolt to put in the allen wrench in to stop the bolt from rotating once you tried to tighten the nut. I was furious and went backt to Advanced auto and the sales person suggested these parts and said they tend to improve upon orginal designs. I took a chance and was so glad I did. The improvements were simple but effective. No allen wrench required becuase the bolt in the tie rod no longer rotates when you try to tighten the new crown style bolts which are also secured with a codder pin. Brilliant and simple design which made the install fast and painless. I like the Moog parts so well that a week later when I was install the new LCA's, I went straight for Moog no questions asked! Buy these and you will be glad you did!
