Be sure to know how many splines and keys there are on yours. Mine could have been 33 splines/3 key or 32 splines/4 key. Mine was this one, 33/3

    Comments about MOOG Pitman Arm:

Installed pitman arm it lacked 1/4 of a inch from reaching the bottom of the spline shaft from the steering gear box I pulled it back off upon inspection it appeared that when it was cast the splines were not properly cleaned up it had a lip on the top side after dressing the pitman arm with a file it still was lacking 1/ 4 of a inch so I took it back to the store I picked it up from they didn't have anymore in stock they called another local store and asked them to hold the part for me that I was on my way to exchange it for the one I had when I arrived the new part was on the counter but the cashier informed me all they could do was to refund my money due to the fact I ordered it online but if I wanted to order the same part using my phone he would give me the part after driving across town I asked for a refund and went to a different auto parts store bought the same part installed it with no problems and they gave me the same 30 % discount as advanced auto parts so much for honoring your 90 day store guarantee

            A:

Hi Baca! I'm glad to assist you. The Moog Pitman Arm (Part No. K6536) is an exact fit for your 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD 5.3L with 4 Groove Spline and the Moog Pitman Arm (Part No. K6654) is 2004 GMC Sierra 1500 4WD 5.3L with 3 Groove Spline. You should be able to tell if your vehicle needs 3 or 4 groove pitman arm by crawling underneath and looking in it. The grooves in the splines will go all the way to the end just before the threads. At the very most you might have to take off the castle nut if there are no splines poking out. Generally, 3/4 and 1 ton trucks use 3 groove and 1/2 ton trucks use 4 groove.

            A:

With reference to inquiry on the Moog Pitman Arm - Part No. K6536, in your Chevrolet Silverado 2500 HD place the pitman arm puller tool on the pitman arm so that the center bolt is on the middle of the gear and the hooks on the side of the tool slide behind the pitman arm. By tightening down the center bolt, it will pull off the pitman arm.
