I had a TRW pitman arm waiting to be installed for a year or so. Finally got around to changing the arm on my 1997 Chev K1500. Old one came off reasonably well. Went to put new one on and it only went half way! I read a lot of bad reviews for another brand here about the same problem so I decided to spend the extra money to get a MOOG. The reviews here were all positive so I was feeling quite good. Prior to installing the MOOG arm, I went over all the splines with a small file and then coated with NeverSeize. With A LOT of torque, I still was only able to get the arm half way up the splines! I honestly don't know what my next step will be. Perhaps contact MOOG directly since the help presented here rarely is worthwhile. Sorry to say that but it's true.

Cons

  • Not Easy To Install

Best Uses

Comments about MOOG Pitman Arm:

This is a MOOG pitman arm, made in USA, and therefore should last a longer time than a less expensive one made overseas.
If you have to replace this, inspect the rest of your truck for worn or loose components.
Do not overlook the front wheel bearings. They may be causing the oversteer or wander that you are trying to address with the installation of a pitman arm.

Took approximately 3 hours to instal the pitman arm idler arm and idler arm bracket on my 1994 GMC Sierra. These parts took out about 5 inches of play in my steering wheel. The truck's steering is much safer and it's a better ride now. GET AN ALIGNMENT AFTER INSTALLING!
