This set is a hub and bearing. They are made in the USA and are very nicely made. The bearing is not pressed on this unit. You will need a hydraulic press to press the hub out of the knuckle and the new bearing in. You will also need a 35mm socket and a hub puller. Advanced does not have the tools for rent that you will need for this job. If you are not well equipped, take it to a mechanic. My mechanic said he would install them for $300 + tax. Bottom line: parts are very good, have a mechanic install them.

Lasted only 25,000 miles. A Timken and the OE bearing each lasted over 80,000. The Timken bearings are the same price anyways

Overall a quality, well built product. Don't buy no name products especially when it comes to wheel bearings. The install on a ford explorer is difficult, it requires a press and other special tools for proper install. I would recommend leaving this job to a pro, not a DIY job.

Comments about MOOG Hub Assemblies Hub Repair Kit:

I recommend purchasing the USA made hub kit vice the Chinese made. Not only because it supports our economy in the end, but because if you have worked with bearings before, you know that China puts out some shady, flimsy, less than suitable parts. Don't waste your time replacing them twice or paying someone to do it for you. These hub kits are very durable and worth the additional $25.

                    A:

On some vehicles the bearing has to be pressed into place. Meaning and hydraulic press has to be used usually. The $200 is the cost of the time that it will take to do all this.

                  • A:

Pressing means that you have to have a special machine that pushes the old bearing out and pushes the new one in.Its very dangerous and should be done by professionals.200 is a lil steep for pressing though.

Answered on 1/9/2011 by griz from New york
                  • A:

$200 is probably total labor for replacing the bearing while the knuckle is still on the vehicle. Labor includes removing the knuckle, pressing in and out the bearing, and re-installing the knuckle.
