Comments about MOOG Hub Assemblies Front Wheel Hub Repair Kit:

Nice looking parts for replacement on 2007 Ford Escape Hybrid. I bought new in 2006. Bearings lasted 60K miles. Replaced with Timkin (both) they lasted until another 90K miles. I now have 154000 miles on my Escape. I have replaced both bearings with Moog. Here's to another 100K miles. Here is a tip. If you turn your car to the right and the noise goes away, it is the right bearing. If you turn to the left and it goes away it is the left bearing. If the noise changes with the right and the left... it is both bearings. This is not an easy job. You will need a bearing press, a torque wrench that goes to 250 ft/lbs and socket tools 1/2". Takes about 4 hrs a side to complete. After one bearing install, you are going to be very tired.

    Does this include the bearing?

      A:

Good question, Shawn H! Yes, this #518515 include the bearing, but hubs are sold unassembled. Its patented “Quad-Lipped" seal design ensures superior contamination exclusion and maximum bearing life.

  • Q:

if a front bearing on a 2003 ford escape was replaced how long should the bearing last before it needs replaced
Asked on 6/25/2014 by spanky from port arthur,tx

    1 answer

    • CUSTOMER CARE

      A:

Hi Spanky! It's a tricky question. A good quality front bearing from Moog will last anywhere between 150k - 200K easily. In rare cases the following factors may cause premature damage/failure for a bearing - improper lubrication, penetration of liquid or solid particles, incorrect assembly etc.

do you need a hub puller to take off and do you have to press on new one for 207 ford escape
    Asked on 1/17/2012 by Anonymous

You need to remove the big shaft nut. When replacing make sure axle nut 32mm is torqued to spec. [160Nm (118lb ft); hub bolts torque spec: 130Nm (96lb ft). You will need a hub puller (3 point) to separate the hub from drive axle. Discard old hub and 3 bolts, replace with new.
