Comments about MOOG Hub Assemblies Front Wheel Hub Assembly:

This is as easy as it gets. I changed the brake pads at the same time since I had to remove the caliper to replace the hub. You'll need to buy a new locknut since its recommended that you not use the old nut a second time. The locknut torques to 185ft lbs so I bought a 250ft lb torque wrench since mine was so old and only went to 150ft lbs. I saved several dollars by doing the job myself even after buying a new torque wrench.

Comments about MOOG Hub Assemblies Front Wheel Hub Assembly:

The front wheel hub assembly was stright forward. Bolt off, bolt on. The only issue is with the truck design. For this job you have to have special tools to remove the nut with 190 ft/lb of torque.

      • Q:

Just replaced the front hubs on my 2000 dodge v6 (3.9l) Magnum. But there seems to be some play between bearing and spindle. I was thinking that it was my old hub that went out and they possibly ate up my spindle... Theres no scaring. Also checked my brakes to make sure they weren't dragging on my rotar. After 10 miles they are hot. My stock hubs don't have tapered bearings. Any chance that might have something to do with it?

          A:

I'm happy to help, Circ! This MOOG Front Wheel Hub Assembly will fit a 2000-2001 Dodge Ram 1500 with a 3.9L Magnum V6. It will fit the truck with all engine sizes. This is engineered to fit the rear wheel drive trucks only.

If you have 4WD then you will need MOOG Part No. 515038 if you have 2 wheel ABS or MOOG Part No. 515039 if you have 4 wheel ABS. You may also find installation instructions here: http://fme-cat.com/LiveDocs/Hub%20Installation%20Instructions.pdf

For the trouble that you are experiencing, if the incorrect hub assembly is not the culprit, I suggest having the vehicle checked by a certified mechanic. To find a trusted mechanic, try our 'Need repair help?' link located further down this page. You may want to purchase a repair manual for your vehicle (Haynes Part No. 30041 or Chilton Part No. 20404)

No! if it does the picture is wrong. There must be teeth or splines for a four wheel drive hub.
