Comments about MOOG Hub Assemblies Front Wheel Hub Assembly:

Decided to replace hub after ABS sensor failed due to rust (if your ABS comes on at slow speeds on dry pavement, rust might be causing the sensor to move too far from the internal tone ring, you will usually break the sensor trying to remove it as I did).

Changing this hub is easier than you would think. Store has loaner 32mm socket for axle nut. Takes about an hour. I didn't want to gamble on a cheap store brand and decided to go with Moog brand quality and warranty (3 years vs 1 year with store brand).

Only down side (same as all aftermarket hubs) is that if the supplied abs sensor ever fails you have to replace the hub/sensor assembly as factory sensor will not work with aftermarket hubs. Even Moog brand hub/sensor assembly actually cost less than factory sensor however.

This hub worked great and was a direct replacement for the OEM unit, which was more than twice the price.

      A:

Ed, great question! The first time I had to have a wheel hub replaced I asked the same question. These are generally ok to replace as they fail because wear against the bearing will be different because of how the driver side and passenger sides ride on the road and while turning. This is the correct part for the Ranger with the 3.0L VIN V. This is for the front with 4WD and 4-wheel ABS. The replacement of the hub should be pretty straightforward. I would check in the service manual or with a local mechanic if there is any o-ring that would need replaced.
