I've been a mechanic for over 35 years. I have replaced literally more universal joints than I could count. I have used Moog u-joints in the past with no problems. Now, I've seen old u-joint caps fracture and break off while being pressed out many times. It's not a surprise when they are old and weak from constant stress. This is the FIRST time I have ever seen a u-joint cap fracture and blast off like a bullet while pressing it in when brand new however!!! Upon looking at the broken cap I realized the metal is very porous and light. It appears to be nothing more than cheap die cast "white metal" as we used to call it.

Completely worthless. In fact, I'm going to press out the one that did NOT break and return both of these. "Super strength" my hind end! I'd hate to have managed to get it in without breaking it only to have it fail on the road.

Comments about MOOG Driveline Products U Joint:

Product looked good out of the box, but after installing the u-joint in the drive shaft, I discovered that the hole drilled and tapped for the grease fitting was 3 sizes too big. I've had great luck with Moog products in the past, and this one was replacing an old one from years past, but it's hard to recommend a company that sends out product with poor quality control. I would probably buy this product again, but I recommend that you make sure the correct grease fitting is included in the box, or you will be making an unexpected trip back to the parts store. I defiantly expected more out of such a reputable company.

Moog always provides a superior product. They were one of the few who offers a serviceable U-joint that can be greased from the cap rather than in the middle of the joint.

A axle ujoint that you can greese.
Lilving in a state where magchloride is used you need to be able to greese ujoints to push out that stuff and keep the needle bearings lubed.

Hi Chris, happy to help you! It is always recommended to change both driver and passenger side universal joints at once. However, I would suggest that you to take your
vehicle and get it thoroughly checked by a certified mechanic before buying any parts that may/may not solve the problem.
