Helpful Hint: When installing U-joints, you must index the slip yoke to its original position with the drive shaft. i.e. make sure and mark the position of the slip yoke with the shaft. The drive shaft is balanced from the factory after the u-joints are installed. If you install the new u-joints and do not put the slip yoke in the position it came off in, you will have an out of balance drive shaft which will cause a nasty vibration and noise the faster you drive. If you have a slip yoke on both ends of the drive shaft as some cars do, you will have to remove the drive shaft and have it re-balanced. If you only have 1 slip yoke and experience an imbalance, just remove the driveshaft and reverse the slip yoke 180 degrees which wil be back in tis original position and maintain the feactory balancing job.

Seemed like a durable U-joint, but was a pain to install. The bearing pins would continually fall out during installation. I ended up spending a few more dollars and bought Moog 270 which seemed to be much better quality. Installation of Moog 270 was a breeze and no issue with bearing pins falling out.

Comments about MOOG Driveline Products U Joint:

These U joints were a perfect fit for my 1999 Mustang 6 cyl & automatic tranny. I replaced the originl parts after 122K miles. I trust I will get that and more from these Moog parts. I strongly recommend you borrow the ball joint press tool kit to get the old units out and press the new ones into the drive shaft, pinion flange barcket and transmission yoke. Also, the needle roller bearings can slip out slightly and make seating the bearing caps impossible - a lesson learned here. So, watch both sides of each cross end when pressing the new caps on. This was the first time I tried a U-joint replacement & with only common hand tools plus the AA loaner tool. Tt took time but left a good feeling of acomplishement. Be sure to mark the drive shaft, pinion flange and yoke before you take them apart to ensure they go back in the same orientation (drive shaft balance). Finally, pay attention to how you position the U-joint for easier access to the zerk grease fitting.

Be sure to get the kit to press the old out and the new in. Use of liquid wrench helps this too.

Happy to help you with your question Bill! Looking at the details of these U-Joints it tells me it fits 01 dodge Dakota 4.7 in these positions; Rear Drive shaft at Rear Axle 4WD with 1-1/16" O.D. Bearings, Rear Drive shaft at Transmission 4WD with 1-1/16" O.D. Bearings, Rear Drive shaft at Transmission 4WD with 1-1/16" O.D. Bearings. The biggest piece of information you will need to find out is about your OD (over drive) bearings, that will be the deciding factor if these will fit your truck.
