Check Vehicle Fit

MOOG Problem Solver products incorporate proven design and engineering features to ensure like new steering, ease of installation and longer life. MOOG is the preferred steering and suspension parts brand of professional technicians and NASCAR Crew Chiefs.

Product Features:
  • The OE ball joint is designed with an elliptical stud opening. Failure to properly align the ball joint in the control arm during installation could result in loss of vehicle control due to ball joint failure. MOOG® instruction sheets contain specific information about press in ball joint orientation, where applicable.
  • Problem Solver® powdered metal gusher bearing design enables grease to flow through the bearing to the stud for reduced friction and enhanced strength and stability.
  • MOOG® engineered steel composition results in a stronger component.
  • Full ball metal stud provides 360 degrees of smooth, consistent, rotational movement resulting in more responsive steering.
  • An enlarged ball joint receptacle in the control arm can cause a loose ball joint fit. MOOG® Problem Solver® design includes an oversized housing for a more secure fit.
  • Greaseable socket design allows new lubricant to flush contaminants from the assembly, reducing corrosion and wear.

        • Q:

I have a 2007 silverado 1500 4x4 that I bought pre owned. Has a 3-3 1/2 lift and they put after market control arms on the front and the ball joints need replaced. They are bolt on with 4 bolts is this the right part ?
Asked on 9/11/2014 by Jake from St. Louis mo

          • CUSTOMER CARE

            A:

I'm happy to help, Jake! These MOOG Ball Joints (Part No. K6540) will fit a 1999-2007 Chevrolet Silverado 4x4 in the front upper position. With your Silverado being a 2007, it must be the Silverado Classic, and not the new style. The front lower ball joint is Part No. K6541.

These are designed for stock replacement. The lift kit could use a different type of ball joint and that information will not be provided by a standard product catalog. In these cases you would need to know which brand lift kit was used and if the control arms have a specific ball joint to use for replacement.

To provide a better product recommendation, if you are able to, could you please provide those additional details, such as if you have a Classic or new style and if you happen to know the brand of lift kit.

Also, the new body style used Part No. K500007 for the front lower ball joint with aluminum control arms and Part No. K6541 is for the steel lower control arm. At this time there is no separate ball joint for the front upper on the new style Silverado.
