Be sure to press out the OE ball joint from top down and press in new ball joint from top down also. It's not obvious as older Mopar ball joints would press out from top down and press in new BJ from bottom up.

                Comments about MOOG Ball Joint:

You must realize the old ball joint gets pressed out from top towards the bottom. This new design gets pressed in from the top towards the bottom. So don't try pushing it in Opposite the way the original came out!

                    Comments about MOOG Ball Joint:

Wanted to replace the ball joint without replacing the whole lower control arm. Dodge/Mopar only offers the whole LCA (approx $220) & the ball-joint is non-serviceable/non-replaceable on its own.

This unit installed easily & has a snap-ring to secure it. Nice replacement & cured the clunk we had on the passenger side. Now ordering one for the driver's side 6 months later since it has started to clunk.

                    • Q:

I have an 09' Dodge Caliber sxt 1.8l. I've replaced my LCA's with Moog No. RK620065/RK620066 twice now. The ball joints on these LCA's seem to be really sub-par since they go bad every 12 months. Overall I'm very disapointed in the Moog LCA's since they can't handle more than 25k miles before they start to clunk severely. All of that aside, I wanted to know if this ball joint fits the Moog RK620065 or RK620066? I'd rather spend $57 for each ball-joint every year than the $150+ for the LCA's.

                        A:

I'm happy to help, SM! This MOOG Ball Joint (Part No. K500063) can be used as a replacement ball joint on the MOOG Control Arms (Part No. RK620065 and RK620066). I can tell you've had trouble with these ball joints on your 2009 Dodge Caliber SXT 1.8L L4. If you have not been, the MOOG ball joints require heavy duty lithium or synthetic grease to be added at every oil change as well as at the time of installation.

The installation instructions for the ball joint is available here: http://fme-cat.com/LiveDocs/AXCF4617.pdf and there are additional bulletins available here: http://fme-cat.com/overlays/part-detail.aspx?brand=MC&PartNumber=K500063&pt=Ball%20Joint&lu=2009%20DODGE%20CALIBER&vin=

Do you have a tool rental program? You would need a ball joint press for this.

                      • A:

Its always better to replace suspension components on both sides when ever possible to keep side to side performance variation as low as possible. Furthermore, Chrysler ball joints in general are well known to be problematic and wear at an accelerated rate. Just look at the cost of the non-Moog "problem solver" vs. the OEM replacement at $16.00 and you can truly see that you get exactly what you pay for when you buy a cheap part.

This does not include the control arm. Usually if you look up control arms, will show up with the ball joint but not the only way around.
