These shocks feature a high-pressure gas charge that separates the unit internal oil and nitrogen to provide additional spring rate, helping to maximize damping efficiency and control. To further enhance ride control characteristics, Monroe® Reflex® monotube shocks include a hydraulic lockout to cushion the impact as the vehicle suspension is fully extended.

Product Features:
  • Hydraulic Lockout: Patented unique hydraulic lock-out isolates impact at the limits of suspension travel
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • High Pressure Nitrogen Gas Charged: High-pressure charge (240-260 PSI) provides a quicker response for excellent vehicle control
  • Shock Housing: High strength to resist damage and provide longer service life.
  • Nitrocarburized Rod: For long service life
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Free Floating Dividing Piston: Separates shock fluid from high-pressure gas charge.

I gave these shocks 4 stars since I have not been able to fully test them. I also do not know the longevity either. So far I have driven 15 miles on them and they have made a tremendous difference to the front end of my 97 Tahoe. I will be towing and driving on dirt rodes soon for motocross season and will have better idea of how they handle.I am in need of changing out the rear shocks and will definatly buy these for the rear.

I wanted to put a nice replacement shock on my 99 suburban and thought these would be it. After less than a year they started making noise. A hollow rattle every time I go over a bump. How disappointing! Now I've got take them off, bring them in to the store and get replacements. I'm hoping that the store will let me exchange for a different brand becuase I'm not going to spend my time re-installing these Monroe mono-tubes. If I can get a decent price on the Bilsteins I think I'll try those.

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

I replaced a set of Light Truck shocks on my '98 Z71 silverado. They had worn out but never really rode like the originals. These were recommended for the Z71 and I can say the truck now has the original ride that I was looking for. Highly recommend these as replacements.

    Disappointing - 2 didn't last one year

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

Installed two of these Monroe Reflex Monotube shocks on the front of my wife's 97 Suburban. Initial impression was good, but within a few months one of the shocks began to rattle, so I replaced it. Now, about seven months after purchasing, the other one is rattling and I'm going to replace both. Both shocks failed in less than one year! Good price, but not worth the terrible quality and durability.

I was amazed at the way my truck handled after installing the front shocks...unbelievable. I had no idea it would handle so much better. I found out that the shocks I had put on earlier were not the correct type...the 98 Chevy K1500 / Z71 package requires specific shocks.
            The Monroe shocks work perfect!!

                    A:

No, this Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber (Part No. 911511) will not fit your 1998 Chevrolet K1500 with Z71. The exact front shock absorber for your vehicle is currently unavailable online. I would suggest that you visit the nearest Advance Auto Parts store to check the availability of this part.

This shock (Part No. 911511) features a high-pressure gas charge that separates the unit internal oil and nitrogen to provide additional spring rate, helping to maximize damping efficiency and control.
