Monroe Reflex monotube shocks are specifically engineered to provide better handling, control and performance for light trucks and SUV's. These shocks feature a high-pressure gas charge that separates the unit internal oil and nitrogen to provide additional spring rate, helping to maximize damping efficiency and control. To further enhance ride control characteristics, Monroe Reflex monotube shocks include a hydraulic lockout to cushion the impact as the vehicle suspension is fully extended.

Product Features:
  • Hydraulic Lockout: Patented unique hydraulic lock-out isolates impact at the limits of suspension travel
  • Free Floating Dividing Piston: Separates shock fluid from high-pressure gas charged
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • High Pressure Nitrogen Gas Charged: High-pressure charge (240-260 PSI) provides a quicker response for excellent vehicle control.
  • Shock Housing: High strength to resist damage and provide longer service life.
  • Nitrocarburized Rod: For long service life.
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.

While these are cost prohibitive to the regular joe, it is my opinion you get what you pay for, these are recommended for the Z71 4x4 package and well worth the cash. I used the Advance online discount and have sent in the monroe coupon for even more cash back, we will see how that works out. The front shocks were in stock at my local store the rear shocks were shipped from monroe in three days. I am quite happy.

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

Installed on a Chevy Silvarado. The shocks restored the ride as the old ones were worn out.

The bushings, particularly the top bushings could use metal inserts similar to the OE. It would also be very helpful if the shocks came compressed and wired down for the install as I found it necessary to compress the shocks in order to install them.

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

Had some Gabriel brand shocks on the front and back, only had them for just a little more than a year. Will never buy them again. I had already installed the new shocks on the rear and noticed a huge difference in the ride. Installed the new ones on the front and was even more impressed. My truck is now handling like it just came off the show room floor. Loving it!!

Comments about Monroe Reflex Monotube Shock Absorber:

My 2002 Chevrolet Silverado Extended Cab Z71 has almost 240,000 miles on it. I drive it mostly to work and back with a trip now and then on vacation and still had the original factory shocks, they had seen there better days. When I made the decision to replace them I read the reviews replaced my worn out shocks with Monroe Reflex Monotube shocks, front and rear. I had forgotten how good the truck rode. I have worked on cars and trucks over 39 years and never thought about shocks helping with acceleration but the new shocks stopped the dip to the back when accelerating and the dive to the front when braking and the handling is wonderful, no more heavy turns, the trucks goes thru turns wonderfully. And the ride is absolutely wonderful. If I had known these shocks would make that much difference I would have bought them a long time ago. Wonderful shocks for a very reasonable price. The only problem I had was 1 of the front shocks didn't come with a nut in the hardware bag and the shocks were not a in store item but the local Advance store took care of that with no problem

My dad and I decided to tackle my Chevy Z71 as the next father / son project and replace the old worn out shocks. After reading good reviews on them, I purchased them online to get a discount and picked it up at the store. It took about 2 hours to replace all 4 shocks. After installing the shocks, we took the truck on a test drive. We found the truck to ride like a luxury vehicle instead of bouncing around like a 2 ton truck. Very good product and priced after the discount.

I'd be happy to help you with that! The Reflex shocks are the best for normal day use for trucks and SUVs. They are very responsive and will compliment the rear load adjusting ones if you are doing a lot of towing or hauling. The Reflex shocks are only available for trucks and SUVs because they are designed to compensate for the higher center of gravity.
