The Monroe Reflex® truck shock absorber with the patented ASD Technology combines specially tuned valving with a Fluon banded piston. The ASD valve has the ability to sense acceleration to improve the handling, safety, and overall ride characteristics of sport-utility vehicles, mini-vans and light trucks. The ASD base valve will sense a bump in the road and automatically adjust the shock to absorb the impact, leaving the shock with greater control when it is needed. The features of the Monroe® Reflex® truck shock absorber make it the superior shock for improved handling, safety, and comfort in all road conditions.

Product Features:
  • ASD Technology: Innovative valving provides greater control for handling, while improving ride comfort.
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • 2-1/4 inch or 2 inch Diameter Reserve Tube: Allows more fluid carrying capacity for a cooler running unit.
  • 1-3/8 inch Bore: Lower operating pressure than standard 1 inch bore units
  • 5/8 inch Piston Rod: Heavy-duty nitrocarburized rod for long service life. On non-dust shield units only
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.

I have a chevy with 176,000 miles on it and the shocks were still the original factory pieces. I changed out all four as well as new lower control arms and my ride is much smoother now. The old shocks were bilstein and were quite a bit harsher albiet better cornering. I almost didn't buy the monroe shocks because they dont make a mono tube for the two wheel drive tahoe. One thing that I really noticed was the monroe's front shock rods are a much larger diameter than the bilstein shocks which are almost twice as much and only have a one year warranty to boot. I really like the fact that monroe offers a lifetime warranty, not that you would need it but just in case.

I installed these on my 96 Sierra to replace OEM. Gave a good ride, the kind of feel where you dont realize you are going faster that you thought on the freeway. I had to exchange one of my the shocks at the store for another which was kept in stock. I do not think monroe has QC inspectors paying attention to detail. I think the screw stud on top gets pressed onto the shaft and the one I got had a flaw. The stud was misaligned with the shaft and the pressed in section had metal protruding. I returned it for another so I rate it 3 stars on workmanship but 5 for the ride. Its just my luck. Also, i purchased Lisle Universal Shock Absorber Remover to make life easy.

Comments about Monroe Reflex Light Truck Shock Absorber:

I bought my first set of Reflex shocks for my 1994 Bonneville SSEi. It made the sedan handle like a sports car. It was almost impossible to upset the car with those shocks. They held the road and gave me superior ride and handling. Those shocks were still performing like new when I sold it after more than 100,000 miles on the shocks.

My latest set went on my Chevy C3500 diesel. After a few years of Rxxxx 5000's, the bushings were shot and the ride, well, not so stable. After installing the Reflex shocks, it's like a new truck, holds the road, no shimmy or shake like with the old shocks. I don't remember the old shocks having as much control even when new.

If you want your vehicle to hold the road and not sway, you can't do better than a set of Reflex shocks.

Bought for my '99 Suburban that I use to tow a 27' travel trailer with. Received fast. Went in easy. Fixed the road roughness I had been feeling. Helped with body roll I was aware of and pitching that I wasn't!! Very happy with the purchase.

I replaced all 4 of my old OEM shocks with 100,000 miles on them. My Silverado drives like a dream now. I can't believe the difference this made to handling, braking and ride. The only con I have is not doing this sooner!
