Great product that I would recommend to anyone. The quick strut is what it is a quick replacement of your old or worn struts. but delivers a more comfortable ride for me and I have a New body style 2004 F150 4X4 with 22" rims and it drives better than when I first brought it with the factory rim and tires. All I can say is if you purchase this product, you will not be upset.

Comments about Monroe Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly:

Put these on my 4x4 Ford Crew Cab. My old ones were getting dangerous on the swelled expansion joints and I broke down and bought a full set for my truck. (shocks on back, struts on front) Turns out I had a broken spring that couldn't be seen until the old one was taken off. I soaked the nuts of the old ones overnight with silicone oil to make them much easier to remove.

Comments about Monroe Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly:

The Ford FX4 Stepside uses a fiberglass bed shifting more weight to the front end which causes the front suspension to sustain addition load handling requirements. These strut assemblies are exceptional.

installed these on a 2008 f-150.had to disconnect upper ball joint to r@r. everything lined up great and truck was back to oem ride heighth and handling.original problem was a broken coil spring on the left front strut so i replaced both fronts.fyi upper ball joint nuts should be taken off, sprayed with penetrating oil and threaded back on a couple of times before disconnecting ball joint...nut is hard to get off when you loose the anchoring from the spindle . also have a helper to hold up upper control arm so strut can be lifted out so as not to damaged cv joint boot

Comments about Monroe Quick-Strut Complete Strut Assembly:

I found this product to be a practical, relatively inexpensive option to paying a mechanic to repair my truck. I discovered that the coil spring was broken when I was working on the lower ball joint and rather than remove and disassemble the spring and shock unit it made more sense to buy a complete unit and replace it. Not only did it provide a brand new spring, but the shock too. If you are going to go through all the trouble of removing the strut/shock assembly only to put a new spring on an old shock why not replace the whole unit as one and not risk getting hurt compressing the spring? It is comforting to know that all the parts are new.

Hi Kyle, glad to assist you! To install this part you would require lug wrench, jack stands, spring compressor, ratchet, socket, and wrench. For help with your project, I recommend purchasing a Haynes or Chilton repair manual specifically for your vehicle. This should be able to assist you further into detail on how to repair or replace specific parts.

                A:

Hi 60DRB! I apologize for the earlier response. Upon further research, the part numbers 171361 and 181361 are for the 4WD of a 2006 Ford F150 truck while the part numbers 171362 and 181362 are for the RWD of the F150. The other difference is that the parts numbers 171361 and 171362 are from the Quick-strut line and 181361 & 181362 are from the Econo-matic line of Monroe shocks. In the earlier response, Steve has provided details on the difference between these 2 lines of Monroe.

This breakthrough design saves on installation time by eliminating having to disassemble components and compress the coil spring prior to installation. Each Quick-Strut assembly features application-engineered valving to optimize each vehicle's unique ride and handling characteristics. OK, for those who want the actual answer to my question, I talked to the Monroe representative. The #s ending with "2" are NOT a fit for 4WD, they are 2WD parts. So the AAP statement as to "exact fit for your vehicle" ('06 F-150 4x4) for part #s 171362 and 181362 is false. The part #s starting with "171" are "premium" parts, which basically means they have a better warranty.
