Monroe® OESpectrum® struts are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Rod Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride comfort.
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Hardened and Chrome Plated Piston Rod: Long service life.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Unique Rod Guide and Single Lip Seal: Bronze reinforced rod guide bearing and special seal provides longer service life and consistent performance.
  • Special Dust Boot/Jounce Bumper: Protective dust boot reduces dirt and any moisture build-up. Jounce bumper helps prevent severe suspension movement. Dust boot & jounce bumper sold separately.

  • Q:

I just installed 4 of these struts along with 4 springs on my '07 Avalon. Since then the ride is very rough compared with what it was since it was new. I feel every slight bump in the road, which I never did before. Is there any adjustment on these struts that can soften the ride somewhat? Please advise. Thank you.

      A:

This Monroe OESpectrum Strut -part# 72307 is tuned specifically for each application snd the valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride comfort. When replacing the struts, the springs, top mount, and the bump stop/bellows, and other harware from the old struts have to be installed on the new ones as they are. The bump stop is simply there to cushion the impact if the suspension is bottomed out on large bumps, and if it is split, torn, missing, you will get a very harsh ride on big potholes, speedbumps, etc. The bump stops are installed around the shaft of the strut, inside the coil. They can be easily inspected by jacking up the front end to extend the suspension. And by tire inflation, be sure they are set the specification on the door jamb sticker for stock sized tires. Inflating to the maximum pressure rating on the tire sidewall will give results like you describe as well as poor handling.
