Monroe® OESpectrum® struts are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Rod Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride comfort.
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Hardened and Chrome Plated Piston Rod: Long service life.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Unique Rod Guide and Single Lip Seal: Bronze reinforced rod guide bearing and special seal provides longer service life and consistent performance.
  • Special Dust Boot/Jounce Bumper: Protective dust boot reduces dirt and any moisture build-up. Jounce bumper helps prevent severe suspension movement. Dust boot & jounce bumper sold separately.

I currently have the MOOG strut mounts and coil springs new. Is that all I need to make this strut a quick-strut?

                    A:

I'm happy to help, Cabreraaa! I think you will need to purchase a dust boot and jounce bumper to install this Monroe OESpectrum Strut (Part No. 72179). For more information, I would suggest that you contact the Monroe directly at 1-800-201-6506 and they would be in a better position to help you.

                • Q:

If I am replacing the front strut, is this the only part I would need or do I need to purchase shock absorbers and/or any other parts separately?

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

I'm happy to help, Brian! The Monroe Sensa-Trac strut is the "shock absorbing" part of the assembly. The assembly also contains a spring, seat, insulator and mount. The spring removal requires the use of a spring compressor, which your local Advance Auto Parts may offer a loaner tool or you can purchase one such as Part No. AC500/W80554. If you are unsure of the rest of the components of your strut assembly I would recommend using a Monroe Quick-Strut (Part No. 172179L [left front] and 172179R [right front]) or KYB Strut Plus (Part No. SR4057 [left front] and SR4056 [right front]). If your struts are worn out, your shocks are most likely worn as well, Monroe Sensa-Trac Part No. 5779 or KYB Rear Gas Shock Part No. 339084 will replace both left and right rear.
