Monroe® OESpectrum® struts are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Rod Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride comfort.
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Hardened and Chrome Plated Piston Rod: Long service life.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Unique Rod Guide and Single Lip Seal: Bronze reinforced rod guide bearing and special seal provides longer service life and consistent performance.
  • Special Dust Boot/Jounce Bumper: Protective dust boot reduces dirt and any moisture build-up. Jounce bumper helps prevent severe suspension movement. Dust boot & jounce bumper sold separately.

        Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Strut:

Easier to install than the stock ones for my BMW. Not sure on the long term durability, but comes with a lifetime warranty (not transferable if you sell it). But they were much cheaper than the other auto places. Very happy with it so far. (Plus found out they are about 1 inch shorter than the stock ones, so gives it a slight low ride look.

        • Q:

Does it come with a spring already compressed, or would that come separate and I would have to take it somewhere to get the spring compressed?

            A:

I'm happy to help, Brandon! Monroe OESpectrum Struts are sold as the strut alone. For an entire assembly you will want to look for Monroe Quick-Strut or Econo-Matic (these are not available for all vehicles) In this case the strut would need to have the spring compressed to remove and install on the new strut. If you prefer to buy a new coil spring, that will need to be compressed and installed.

Your local Advance Auto Parts store may be able to provide you with a spring compressor as a loaner tool, if you prefer to do the job yourself. Compressing a coil spring for removal and/or installation on a strut can be a dangerous job, make sure to use caution. You may also take the strut to a professional if you prefer to have them install the spring. Please keep in mind that any labor charges incurred are not covered under your warranty.
