Check Vehicle Fit

Monroe® OESpectrum® shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • 1-3/16 inch Bore: Larger bore than most shocks to provide more efficient and consistent control
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • 1/2 inch Diameter Piston Rod: Nitrocarburized rod for long service life. On non-dust shield units only.
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.

I had a leaky rear shock on my Mazda 3, purchased a pair of these online from Advance. They were an exact replacement fit, and it only took about an hour to do the entire job, from wheels up to jack down. The car has 110,000 miles on it and I could definitely tell a difference in the ride after the replacement. Very well pleased with the quality, and I know Monroe is a good brand. It was definitely the best idea to replace them as a pair, rather than just the one, to get an equal ride from side to side.

What can I say, it's an inexpensive shock. For my car it could be installed separately, so it was only 2 screws and one bolt to be out and in. Given the price range (I got 20% off so a pair, with tax, was under $60) I don't expect anything exciting, but it seems to serve its purpose. The real test will be to see how long it lasts, although it does offer a lifetime warranty. Only odd thing was that it was manufactured in Czechia (Google it, it's another term for the Czech Republic), so that was... different. Bottom line, it does what its supposed to do inexpensively but I am anticipating them needing to be replaced in a few years.

Excellent quality and great price! Restored a "like new" ride to my 200K mile Mazda!
Very easy to install, However be carefull removing the retainer push clips for the panels in the trunk, they will break very easy! You may need help hold the shock shaft while tightening at the top tower. Should take no more than a half hour to change both.

These shocks were easy to install and better so far than the original Mazda5 rear shocks. Already put 2000 miles on them taking a road trip with a full load in on a variety of road surfaces and they performed great.

Great alternative to buying OEM parts from mazda for $100 + each. Need to reuse dust shield and mounting bracket from OEM piece, but change over is quick. Complete install only takes about an hour.

                • Q:

This OE spectrum strut shows 26.378 in for the full extended length, while the KYB version which is supposed to fit my 2007 mazda 3 shows 27.87 in extended length. I have a set of the OE spectrums, and they are shorter than the stock parts by about an inch. Is this really the correct OE spectrum part number for my car?
