Monroe® OESpectrum® shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.
  • 1-3/8 inch (34.9 mm) bore (On most applications)
  • 5/8-inch (15.9 mm) diameter piston rod (On most applications)

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

As my headline states, these seem to be good shocks, and they are a very reasonable price, especially when you add an Advance coupon. They fit my 2004 Dodge Dakota Sport (Club Cab) 4x4 perfectly. Changing them out was a snap. As a matter of fact, I didn't even remove my tires or anything. I just jacked the truck up, rested it on jack stands, turned the wheels one direction, removed the old shock, bolted on the new one, and repeated for the other side. The box contained all the parts I needed, including new bushings. The only thing missing was dust boots, but I picked those up for about $6 here as well. I have yet to see about longevity, but Monroe has been around forever, so I'm not too worried about the quality.

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

The left front OEM shock on my 2001 Dodge Dakota 4x4 started leaking and I had a "clunking" noise when going into and out of my driveway or a parking lot. I replaced both front shocks and now the clunking noise is gone and the front suspension feels tighter. The Sensa-Tracs use a 5/8-inch diameter piston rod just like the OEM shocks.

The Sensa-Tracs were shipped extended so you have to collapse them against the gas pressure to fit them into place. Not a problem in my case, but it might be if you're working in a really tight spot.

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

these give a much smoother, controlled ride than the Rancho RS5000 shocks I had on my 2000 Durango. The Rancho's were just too stiff for regular use and gave a very uncomfortable jolting ride if I had no substantial weight in the truck. These Monroe's provide great control along with a ride that is not harsh over bumps.
