Monroe® OESpectrum® shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.
  • 1-3/8 inch (34.9 mm) bore (On most applications)
  • 5/8-inch (15.9 mm) diameter piston rod (On most applications)

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

After about 130000 mile on the originals, I noticed that our van seemed to crash over large bumps in the road. Also, we didn't feel as much in control of the vehicle as before - it rolled more during turns, and tire noise was more pronounced. Other than that, it rode well and the tires were wearing evenly. Since we were preparing for a long road trip, I decided to replace the rear dampers to see if they would make a difference in the way the van handled. We have put approximately 3000 miles on them since I installed them two weeks ago and the improvement was dramatic - and the crashing over large bumps ceased, too! Now, it's time to change the fronts...

Replaced what I think were oem shocks on my 2005 uplander with these. Made a huge difference on ride and handling. Biggest notice was when the wife was driving and she said it feels like the van is much tighter on the ride compared to the old shocks.

What does without independent rear suspension mean

                  1 answer

                  • CUSTOMER CARE

                    A:

Hi Butch, glad to help you! Independent rear suspension is a configuration of car and truck suspension systems that make it possible for each wheel on an axle to move in a vertical direction independent of the other. This make it possible for each wheel to react to uneven road conditions in a more efficient manner. There are a couple of benefits that are associated with the use of an independent rear suspension. One advantage has to do with the smoothness of the ride. Because the wheels are able to function independently of each other, one wheel can absorb the vibrations of an uneven stretch of road without sharing the movement with the wheel located on the opposite end of the axle. People who are riding in the back seat of a vehicle equipped with an ATV independent rear suspension will gain the most benefit, although the driver and any other passenger in the front of the vehicle will also notice the quality of the ride. Another reason for going with this type of suspension has to do with the handling ability of the vehicle. Navigating roadways that are punctuated with dips, worn sections of pavement, or potholes is much easier when the vehicle is equipped with an IRS system. This can be especially important for people who use their vehicles in work situations, such as construction workers who routinely transport tools in the truck and may have to go across rough terrain in order to reach a building site.
