Monroe® OESpectrum® shock absorbers are engineered specifically for foreign nameplate vehicles and feature the latest global original equipment valving technologies. Developed through years of research and on-vehicle testing, Monroe® OESpectrum® units provide an unprecedented level of handling precision and control while filtering out the ride harshness commonly encountered on many foreign nameplate applications. This unique blend of control and comfort is made possible through Tenneco's 'Twin Technology™ Active Control System', an exclusive internal damping control technology first developed for leading global vehicle manufacturers. Tenneco's Twin Technology™ consists of its latest Impact Control Valve (ICV), which delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and a patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.

Product Features:
  • All Weather Fluid: Contains special modifiers to reduce friction and ensure smooth rod reaction.
  • Full Displaced Valving: Tuned specifically for each application, this valving automatically adjusts to road extremes to provide consistency and ride
  • Fluon Banded Piston: The fluon band provides consistent sealing between the piston and pressure tube which delivers better control and increased durability.
  • Twin Technology™: Impact Control Valve (ICV), delivers exceptional control under virtually all driving conditions, and patented Low Speed Tunability (LST) piston design that isolates impact-related noise, vibration and harshness.
  • Nitrogen Gas Charged: For improved ride and handling, helps maintain tire to road contact by reducing aeration - on most applications
  • Special Seal: 'Self-lubricating' fluid seal designed to retain gas without excessive wear or friction.
  • 1-3/8 inch (34.9 mm) bore (On most applications)
  • 5/8-inch (15.9 mm) diameter piston rod (On most applications)

Good Product

I have Sensa-Trac shocks/struts on both of my vehicles and have been very pleased. They are worth the extra dollars.

Worked OK for 1st year, but faded quickly.
Don't recommend if you want performance. Compression resistance totally disappears after 1 year. Extention resistance stays good. Very bouncy ride with a lot of wheel hop under acceleration and braking.
Will stiffen up a lot during the winter but looses everything in the summer. Really could not tell any difference from old shocks.
Do not buy if you want better performance than your old shocks.
If you want something cheap that looks new, this is the shock for you, or just sand blast your old ones and repaint them to save money!

Comments about Monroe OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber:

These replaced another brand with about 110,000 miles on them. The ones that came off still had a charge, but the rods had some spots where they stuck. I did notice much better braking and better cornering, so I guess that even if your vehicle doesn't bounce beyond the "bumper test", you shoud think about new shocks if the miles are adding up.

Installation on my 2000 Ford Ranger was very easy. Exact fit. Comes with all the hardware needed. I installed all 4 shocks 2 weeks ago and find the ride is a 100% smoother. Should have done this a long time ago.

Though I could have done it, I had a friend who had a blow torch to heat off the rusted bolts and nuts. I would recommend Monroe shocks and struts if you're looking to replace your old ones. I always been told you get what you buy and these were great and now my ride much smoother

                • Q:

Monroe SHOCKS #37153 AND #37013 FOR A 2007 FORD RANGER XLT 2wd coil springs front, leaf in rear, 2.3 engine are listed as Sensa Trac on some sites and as OE Spectrum on other sites. Since the # is the same are they the same shock? Did the name just change and are they the same item/quality or is the Sensa Trac old inventory? Thanks. Gary

                    A:

Hi Gary, I'm glad to assist you. The Monroe Sensa-Trac Light Truck Shock Absorber and the OESpectrum Light Truck Shock Absorber are the same. The actual internal technology of the struts on this vehicle have not changed. The name is all that is changed. It was done to represent the technology as something different from traditional Sensa-Trac technology.
