These are an easy install on a Lesabre. No need for anything else. Steps: (1) Do one wheel at a time. Loosen lugs, jack up at pinch point, remove lugs & wheel. (2) Slap another jack or stand under suspension arm of the spring [to prevent from dropping down when you remove shock.] (3) Loosen clip on small air hose and remove hose (4) Loosen 2 bottom screws on shock. [Note: There are 2 'clip nuts' on the bottom of old shock you need to remove and retain for new shock.] (5) Go in trunk and remove carpet retaining 'plastic press nut' that holds the cargo net and the carpet in place...unscrew and pull. Peel back carpet. (6) Remove the rubber dirt guard cup over the top of the top screws of the shock (7) Remove all 3 nuts on the top and then remove whole shock. (8) Pull off the old shock the top rubber piece and use on new shock. (9) On the new shock are 2 cups and a nut. Take the bigger cup and insert over the new shock stud so cupped portion points away from shock. Place on top of that the old shock rubber piece. (10) Slip on the bottom tangs of the shock the old 'clip nuts' (11) Re-install shock...bottom first....just get screws started. (12) You'll probably have to pull up on the shock to insert the top assembly thru the hole...so sometimes best to have a friend go inside trunk and put the nuts on while the bottom guy is holding the shock up and thru the trunk hole. (13) Don't forget that on the center nut of the top that the SMALL new cup is attached with the cupped portion pointing down and then the nut to secure. (14) Tighten all to around 18 foot pounds. (15) Put back on the air hose and the clip. GET THE CLIP CORRECT--you should be able to lightly tug on the hose and NOT have it come off. Attach the rubber dust cup over the screws inside the trunk.

Comments about Monroe Max-Air Air Shock Absorber:

Your shocks are a good product, but when you need new air lines to replace the old they are not a direct replacement. The replacement lines will not direct connect to the air pump (Buick Park Ave). You have to buy 1/8 inline unions and splice as the air lines will not connect to the standard air pump fittings. This causes another trip to find the conversion splices which you do not supply.

Comments about Monroe Max-Air Air Shock Absorber:

This is EASY to replace! Why would a mechanic quote 60 minutes per shock, when - with an air compressor and impact wrench - it took maybe 30 minutes each side. Basically, raise each side, put that side on a jack stand, raise the other side, put it on the jack stand, remove the wheels, unscrew the bolts, remove the air line(s), and then reverse. Once I hit the road, I could feel the difference! The ride is back to being smooth (typical Cadillac ride), and thankfully, my air pump works to keep the ride nice!

Product info does not specify that package contains a pair of shocks.
There should be four new clip nuts included to use for the bottom bolts, the old ones were rusted and some broke when I tried to remove them.
The shocks fit fine and the airlines hooked right up without any adapter fittings needed.
Monroe has always made good shocks and these seem to be quality also.

These shocks were perfect fit. Color is black instead of white, but prefer black. The only problem when installing was that the air lines seemed a little too loose thought they might not work, but after starting car everything works good. Great Price

                                  A:

I'm happy to help, Rox! These Monroe Max-Air Shock Absorbers (Part No. MA822) do not have a sensor connection on the shock. These shocks are the recommended replacement on your 2002 Cadillac DeVille DTS 4.6L V8 if your compressor pump is still working. Even if the pump has failed, you can use these shocks with Monroe Shock Absorber Air Hose Kit (Part No. AK29) and manually fill the shocks. If you prefer to convert completely to a non-electronic or air suspension, you may wish to utilize Monroe Air Shock to Load Assist Shock Conversion Kit (Part No. 90007).

Additional details about the conversion kit can be found here:http://www.monroe.com/assets/downloads/english/conversion_kits/FORM_90007.pdf; in this document you will see Part No. MA822 and AK29 mentioned as the preferred replacement options. This also informs of how to eliminate trouble codes related to the air suspension. I also suggest consulting a repair manual (Haynes Part No. 38032) for your vehicle. If you would like additional installation assistance, I suggest consulting with a certified mechanic or you may wish to try Monroe's Tech Talk support forum here: http://www.monroe.com/en-US/support/tech-talk/

I'm happy to help, Shelly! This Monroe Max-Air Air Shock Absorber (Part No. MA822) does fit a 2005 Pontiac Bonneville SE and are sold with two shocks in the kit. To install these into a vehicle that did not come with the auto air leveling system you will need Part No. AK29. You also have the option to do a conversion to a non-air leveling shock with Part No. 90007, which will provide you with load assist shocks.

Great question Don, disconnect the air line at the shock absorber by pushing in and holding the plastic ring while firmly pulling outward on the air line. Then remove the lower shock absorber mounting nut and bolt assembly and swing the shock out of the bracket. Then remove the two upper shock attaching nuts from the top of the crossmember then remove the shock. Reconnect the air line is the reverse of the removal procedure.
