This is a great product! It took me about 15 mins to get the old one out and 5 to put this one in. Heavy duty bushings and new hardware is a major bonus. It fit perfectly. It does not come with a boot, do yourself a favor and spend the 5 bucks on one. It will protect the piston arm and plus it doesn't look too shabby. It eliminated any wobble in my steering and smoothed out the ride.

Installed as replacement for OEM stabilizer on 2003 Grand Cherokee. Monroe supplied bolt and spacer for one end instead of OEM design where bolt was built into end of shock. Monroe's fastener pack included a 1/4" thick spacer, where the OEM spacer was 3/4" thick. Regretfully, the Monroe bolt was only long enough to allow 1/2" total spacer, so until longer bolt can be obtained, stabilizer will be out of alignment with steering arm. Monroe needs to include the correct thickness spacer and a bolt long enough to install it. The Monroe unit appears to have twice the fluid volume of the OEM, which is a good thing. A bellows ($5 dust cover) was shown on the box, but fine print said it was not included. Bellows is necessary to keep dirt from destroying the rod seal.
Steering performance improvement was significant and immediate. Road surface irregularities and large tire squirming that constantly required minor steering corrections, and the heavier bumps and pavement bulges that tended to push the wheels a little left or right and required a firm steering wheel grip, both disappeared. Replace the OEM steering stabilizer the moment either of these situations occur.

Did NOT include the dust boot. The box says that needs to be purchased separately. That would have been nice to know when ordering.

Comments about Monroe Magnum Steering Damper:

Plain and simple, my old one looked like the original steering stabilizer and was just worn out and non-functional. Just needed a good replacement. Another reviewer complained about the new part not bolting in correctly with the supplied hardware. I had no problems with mine. Two thumbs up!

I would recommend using a boot to help ensure that no dirt or debris get inside the stabilizer.

necessary, is relative...obviously the stock one does not come with one nor does the replacement one. the boot is a shield , keeping water, salt/sand, and dirt/dust out. it is 5 bucks from Advance, do yourself a favor and get it. It cant hurt and it looks decent too.
