        A:

Hi GTO's Rock, good question! Both of these steering dampers (Part No. SC2914 and Part No. SA1941) would handle the gross vehicle weight of 8600 lbs as they are exact fit for 1999 Chevrolet K2500 5.7L.. The difference are steering damper kit (Part No. SA1941) comes with attaching and mounting hardware whereas the steering damper (Part No. SC2914) does not include them.

        A:

Hi Razor, following are the instructions for installing this Monroe Magnum Steering Damper -part# SC2914 on your 1997 Chevy C2500: Straighten the front wheels of the truck, then install the U-bolt bracket onto the tie rod, the closest steering bar to the front of the truck, but do not yet tighten the bolts down. Extend the steering stabilizer shock all the way out, then push it back in halfway. Install the shock boot over the rod, then bolt the base of the shock to the U-bolt bracket. Fit the other end of the steering stabilizer onto the mounting bracket provided with the stabilizer kit, then mount the bracket onto the steering spindle.Tighten the bolts that mount the steering stabilizer onto the tie rod, ensuring that none of the parts will rub when the steering wheel is turned, then tighten the bolt that attaches the steering stabilizer to the spindle. After installation, check that the shock does not bottom out when the steering wheel is turned by turning on the truck, then turning the steering wheel all the way in both directions.
