Comments about Monroe Load Adjusting Shock Absorber:

These shocks seem to be very well built . They have a much larger piston rod than the old shocks that were on my truck. The spring is nice and strong too. So strong, in fact, I found it very difficult to install without someway to compress the spring over the shock (I used vise grip style pliers). Once I had the spring compressed it went on as easy as pie. I also replaced the mounting bolts with new metric bolts which were a stronger grade (10.9 instead of the stock 9.8). I put a lock washer under the head of the bolt and used a whiz nut to lock the bolts on tight because the old bolts were very rusty and eaten away. I would recommend you replace the bolt with equivalent hardware or stronger and use new locking nuts if you use these shocks (unless the old hardware is still in good shape) because they will be much stronger than your old shocks were. They will also raise the back of your truck just a bit over the stock shocks. Its not much but you will notice it. I really like them and am looking forward to the increased load carrying capacity they should provide.
