      Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic Strut:

So, the fit was perfect. The nut on the top of the shaft, contrary to previous reviews, was a good fit. Very tight, but that's by design to prevent the nut from backing off while driving.

Mustang rides very smooth now, struts are quiet and quick. I am happy.

The supplied upper mounting nuts are SAE thread the strut rods are Metric I had to purchase them from the local hardware store. Other than that they went right in and improved the ride.

is the Gas-Matic strut better than the more expensive standard strut and what is the difference?

              • CUSTOMER CARE

                A:

The Monroe Gas-Matic Strut - Part No. 81963 is a better product for its price. However the Monroe Sensa-Trac Strut - Part No. 71963 comes with many additional features on top of the existing features of Gas-Matic. Features like PSD (position sensitive damping) and the Safe Tech™ system, All weather fluid, Rod displaced valving, Fluon banded piston, unique groove tube, special dust boot/jounce bumper etc makes the Sensa-trac a better product than most other line of products in Monroe. For any further assistance please feel free to call us at: 1-877-238-2623 or visit the nearest Advance Auto store and one of our representatives will gladly assist you with any questions or concerns you may have.

            • Q:

I replaced the struts about a month ago and every since, it feels like there are no struts there. It feels like the car is riding on the springs. Shouldn't the ride be more rigid? Especially for a sports car? I followed the directions for installation to the letter. Did I do something wrong?

Without the presence of the vehicle we are unable to diagnose the problem nor provide you with a 100% answer. However, I would suggest taking your vehicle to a certified mechanic for a proper diagnosis in order to avoid intermittence.

It is best to replace the strut mounts since your already taking off the struts. You will notice a better and smoother ride.
