Push down on new strut to release clip. It will not fly up, needs about 25 lbs.
Provided you put wishbone on a jack stand near brake there is no danger of the spring flying out.
On first one, drivers side, I loosened one brake caliper bolt and moved it out of way, passenger side I didn't.
Drivers side took 1 and a half hours second took 30 minutes.
After you jack it up and remove wheel put some wood under the brake disk to hold it. Makes it much easier to line up the bolts.
Bolts on top of strut under hood are a pain. I used an air gun but it still turns everything.
On second one I put 2 nuts back on brake disk which made it easier to align everything.
A spiked bar is good in one hole to line up the other.
Good luck.

I bought these struts as an alternative to NAPA's mid-price strut. They were less expensive and seem to be the same level of quality; perhaps the same strut. They are for everyday driving on my daughter's Mustang. They were easy to install and seem to work well. They carry the same limited lifetime warranty as NAPA's for less money; and are made by Monroe. It's a shame they don't include the rubber bushings; which either must be re-used or ordered separately.

Great replacement

Comments about Monroe Gas-Matic Strut:

This was an excellent replacement from the OEM struts on the car. The removal and replacement process was a lot easier than I expected, and if you have a jack and jack stands with basic tools, do this at home and save yourself a ton of money. This was a great fit for my 2003 Ford Mustang(3.8L). Replaced the shocks and struts. The only thing I wish this kit had that it didn't, is new dust boots. One of mine apparently had a bit of a hole in it, but some electrical tape fixed that right up Any questions on the removal or installation process, you can find a guide on American muscle if you're doing it on a mustang.

Picked these up today, and I spent about 1 Hour and 15 to install and thats with a ten minute rain and beer delay. Applied PB blaster on old bolts, came right off, longest part was lifting up and removing tires. Easiest Strut job I have done, no coils to compress, can be done by yourself and is at a good price.
